I'm checking for Beat the Clock 1963 pinball price average

I don't have any pin right now so iI don't know if is a good idea to start with and older pin.

playing older pin is not the same, less options... should I wait for an another deal or start with one of this?

depends who old you are ...

it ain't a bad idea to buy something old and cheap as a first pin so that you can learn to repair it.
Then again, it might kill your fun if you are unable to repair it and you can't play it

.. sale pitch: Thus I have 4 working pins for sale ! See this thread !

A Beat the clock 1963 around 600 $ if I don't see major trouble, it's a good deal or not?

I started in the hobby back in 1981, with a 1968 Williams Daffie EM
pinball machine needing repairs, purchased for an affordable price at
the time ($130). Single player, one drop target, and rare zipper flippers
for a Williams. It was a great experience in learning how to fix EMs.
Luckily the schematic was in the game... There was no eBay at the time,
and very few pinball parts resellers.

The 2007 Mr.Pinball Price Guide lists a 1963 Beat The Clock for $550 USD.
http://www.ipdb.org reports good comments on that machine.
The good is that it is a 2-ball multiball (very few EMs are multiball),
and that there is some animation on the backglass.

As the others have mentioned above, an EM is however usually limited,
and not too many people are able to fix them right... however there is
now a lot of available documentation on the web, as well as many parts available.
...and there are no chips and hidden software nor boards...

Are you looking for playability, deep ruleset, light-show and music/speech,
or a more simple EM ?

$600 for a first EM seems steep... unless it is shopped with many new parts (new
rubber rings, new bulbs, new leg levellers, etc.), looks great (backglass, playfield,
plastics, and cabinet), and comes with its manual & schematics (and keys and back cover!),
with delivery and warrantee ! It should also have working coin acceptors.

If you are looking to spend that much, you might also want to consider spending
a few more $100s and get a more modern and fun/faster solid state machine.
But then again not everyone knows or are able to fix boards when repairs are
required. Quite a few of us here can however help for both EMs and SS machines.

It is really up to you...
Pinball machines are an ensemble of Nostalgia, artwork/sight, sound and playability...

Bonne chance!
- Sylvain.

Merci!
Excellent video.

If its the one in ST-Sauveur/Laval dont waste your time.....its been repainted completely and differently from original...the playfield has ugly touch ups and many things are not working so well.

Hell even I the grand spender I didnt buy it...and I offered 400 and he said no way...like you said he seem to think he is holding on to gold....was asking 850 before I told him it was way too much.

Machines for sale come by the ton these days you should wait.....if you want a good well fixed EM you should buy one from Sylvain when he has one for sale....it will be perfectly fixed and working nicely.

If you want a newer one go with Phil he has a few good ones (850 is a good deal).

Oh well, it is fun too, but very busy.

Yep, I really do enjoy fixing machines, always with quality and care,
during my very limited spare time, all for a reasonnable price.

There are many great members on MAACA offering quality machines
at a reasonnable price... And many of us will try to help if anything
happens later with the machine.

Merci encore,

Cheers,
- Sylvain.
