No official news as of yet.

For all who were wondering, Chris Benoit, wrestler in the WWE, along with his wife and 7-year-old son were found dead in their home in Atlanta. No details at this point.

Fayette County, Georgia police are investigating Benoit's house following the discovery of the bodies. Lieutenant Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department reported to ABC News that sheriffs entered his home on a "welfare check" after missing several appointments, leading to concerns.[85] Pope also stated the police are not searching for any suspects outside of the house, as the instruments of death were located at scene of the crime.[86]

The same day Detective Bo Turner of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told television station WAGA-TV that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide, and the station reported that investigators believe that Benoit murdered his wife and son over the weekend and commited suicide sometime on Monday.

this F#@*#@# sucks.
i watch alot of wrestling.  have meet and hung out with quite a few years ago.  i even pierced the undertaker.  shoot at one point of my life, i almost became one.
chris didn't show up for the payper view this sunday.  stating he had family problems.
i can't really believe this (i know its true).  but man oh man.  with all that has happened around him with other wrestlers.   flying brian passing after all he went through, then owen heart dieing in the ring, hit him very hard due to them working together throughout stampede and then later in life, eddie dieing out of the blue (after cleaning up) and those were some of his best friends, the others he knew dieing at a young age.  shoot this week another died (age 42)  beef wellington or biff wellington.  he too was a worker at stampede wrestling and also wrestled with chris in WCW.  they weren't that tight near the end but they were friends. with all those deaths of friends you would think he would know how this would hit others doing what he did.   but i know, he was only thinking of himself in doing such a violent act.  don't know if i want to keep any of the signature stuff i have of his anymore..  fu ck

here is what the law had posted (live audio wrestling http://www.liveaudiowrestling.com )

EARLY TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE ON BENOIT DOUBLE MURDER - SUICIDE

By: John Pollock
The LAW

Authorities in Fayette County Georgia continue to investigate the death of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and 7-year old son Daniel, who were found dead at their home today at 2:30 p.m.

Benoit missed this past weekends events in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday and in Houston, Texas on Sunday night prompting the WWE to have someone go check his home on Monday.

It is now being reported that a number of text messages were sent by Chris Benoit to Chavo Guerrero and were described as curious over the weekend and reported to Richard Hering, who is the WWEs Vice President of Government Relations, who ordered someone to go check on Benoits home on Monday afternoon.

The WWE was alerted to the deaths at 4:00 p.m on Monday and brought the entire roster into the ring to make the announcement of Benoit and his familys passing.

Investigators in Fayette County, Georgia are working under the assumption that it was a double murder suicide with reports suggesting that both Daniel and Nancy were murdered over the weekend by Chris, who then committed suicide on Monday at the age of 40.

The Raw show scheduled for Corpus Christi, Texas Monday night was cancelled with fans turned away at the doors for the sold out show. In its place was a tribute show for Benoit featuring some of his top matches along with memorials from Steve Austin, Dean Malenko, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Chavo Guerrero, Edge and John Cena. Those tribute videos were posted online by the WWE but have since been taken down. The show on Monday began with Vince McMahon in the middle of the ring in the empty arena addressing the passing of Chris Benoit.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Smackdown and ECW TV tapings will go ahead on Tuesday night in San Antonio, Texas with no references to Chris Benoit or the Vince McMahon death angle.

An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday morning with toxicology results not expected to be released until 2-weeks from now.

Scott Ballard, who is the Fayette County District Attorney stated that The details, when they come out, are going to prove a little bizarre.

I hope when the details finally surface that it's a scenario not yet speculated.

because the hard part for me to stomach is how they are making it sound  that he killed the wife on saturday, then his 7 seven year old son on sunday.

like chris rock jokes about  "if you've never contemplated killing your spouse & spent time in front of the mirror practicing your alibi, you ain't never been in love"

so snapping (even if it wasn't 'roid rage) and accidentally killing your spousal is semi-understandable but infront of your kid? What unimaginable terror goes through the kid's mind for the next 24 hours?

mentally unhinged doesn't even begin to describe what had to be going through Benoit's mind between saturday & sunday before then deciding his son was better off dead.

It was a great time to grow in Calgary! Stampede wrestling was on the tv every Saturday. For a few bucks you could see it live at the Corral Centre (think that was the name). Was pretty cheap, too. I remember going a few times to see my fav wrestler at the time Dynamite Kid. Great memories. And the LRT was still shiny and new.

Truely sad to see the tragedy that fell on alot of those guys.

Dynamite Kid -- confined to a wheel chair from injuries sustained over the years. Had a leg amputated.

Davy Boy Smith - dead at 39. Steroid use likely cause of heart attack.

Bad News Brown - just died in March. Worked as a security guard at one point after his wrestling career. He was a great "bad guy". Really worked the crowd into a frenzy.

Own Heart - dead as a result of an accident before a match.

I don't follow wrestling at all now. Lost my interest after the British Bull Dogs left the ring. Dynamite Kid was truly something to see. Amazing skill. The things he did in the ring were incredible. I was fortunate to see him in his prime.

Like Taco said, I hope there is another possibility that the police haven't considered.

Unfortunately CNN is now reporting that a unidentified member of the investigation team has confirmed the following

Benoit strangled his wife, then later smothered his child and finally took his own life by hanging himself in his weight room

That bastard should rot in hell..

Anyone who does any harm to a child should be castrated and buried alive
(...ask me how I really feel !    ...and don't get me started on Capital Punishment ! ),
but smothering a child has to be the worse because it's slow and agonizing for the victim.

Truly a sad story, but tragic when it involves children...

He will.

I agree w/ you Steph. Children are so pure and innocent. Anyone that does anything cruel to a child deserves MUCH more than the law allows. We are far too soft on those that abuse children. I hope the law changes some day and provides greater protection to children.

Sad, sad and sad is all I have to say. Never could understand what drives people to do stuff like that.
