Thanks Adam for the help..Look what happened, I went to pick up a Ironman and it multiplied before it even left the store........... Damn Addiction......
NICE! I think 24 will be very hard to find down the road, I simply never see this title, played it once at a friends place, but thats it! You should get the Head too!! Makes it more Traditional!!
Very cool!
Dave
Here are games I would like to acquire this year, or sometime...
24 Iron Man Attack From Mars Prefer Pounded playfield! Monster Bash Prefer Pounded Playfield! Elvis Sopranos Batman Forever Spider-Man Stern Prefer Pounded Playfield!
Have these available for trade or possible sale: Corvette South Park Theatre of Magic Twilight Zone RFM/SW:EP1 Nucore Combo AFM
Nice-I've played 24 a couple of times at Playdium, and it's not a bad game. Theme doesn't do much for me, but there are plenty of other great pins that are based on crappy licenses. Have fun with the new games!
Own Magic, Star Gazer, Batman Forever, STTNG, Mystery Castle (project)
Gone Fairy, Secret Service, Meteor x3, Title Fight, Eight Ball Deluxe, Bone Busters Inc., Seawitch, Starship Troopers, Strange Science, Arena, Hook, Pin*Bot x2, Time Warp, Motordome, Robocop, Black hole, Jurassic Park , Wipe-Out, Pinball Pro: Challenger I, Swords of Fury, Stargate, Party Zone
man.. I'm jealous! If I came home with two new Sterns I wouldn't have enough money left for the divorce.
Maybe that's the way to do it. "Look honey, I know you want to leave me right now, but trust me, I didn't leave enough in the bank account for decent lawyer"
I think one day, people will "rediscover" 24. Just like people suddenly realized that RBION or POTC were much better than originally thought. Great hurry up modes, pop up targets in the middle of the playfield. Some tight shots as well. My only criticism is the audio samples.
I think, like Shadow, the price will suffer in the long run due to a poor license and bad art. The backglass and translite are pretty bad, but the game play is so awesome. It's an absolute blast to play. There is never a moment of rest. The ball is constantly in motion -- provided you disable the stopper on the left ramp -- with constant hurry ups and count downs. I also think people will "rediscover" it later and realize how great it is.
If the license or art were better, I think it would have been better received. I agree the audio is pretty bad --it's actually so bad, it's funny and that makes it almost good -- but I don't think that alone is a deal breaker. POTC has pretty weak audio -- music is lame, at least 24 has good rocking music, and the voice call outs on Pirates are really, really bad -- but the game play is awesome, art package is outstanding all around (playfield, translite, cabinet, plastics, etc.), and it's a killer license. I also have to give credit to the best Stern toy to date -- the sinking ship although 24 has a pretty cool toy as well with the Safehouse.
End of the day, POTC sells for good coin in spite of it's very lame audio. 24 has a few other marks against it and I think that will hurt it. The license is probably the most damning. I don't know anyone that actually watched the show, yet it was a "hit" series. Go figure.
The factor that may help 24 is the production numbers. I don't know if it was produced in large quantities. With Ripley's, WPT, and WoF, for example, the price drop was pretty immediate. If I recall correctly, those games dropped dramatically in the next year. I haven't see the same thing with 24.
