Hardcor,
Stargate is a pretty desirable pin, in fact one of the most desirable dot matrix pins by Gottlieb. There were a few people in the pins wanted section looking for this pin. If I was in your position and had this trade opportunity, would I do it .....er maybe.

well said. even if it's the most desirable gottlieb ( and that's a big if ), it remain the most desirable turd among turds Then again ... if he actually delivers AND move the 61 inch rear projection tv without you having to help, you should do it .. it will still be worth more then the tv in 3 months... |

Let me rephrase that I seem to have got my signals crossed, well it won't be the first time. It depends on the condition of the pin and the age and type of projection TV. |

Do it!
Your rear projection will be worth less tommorrow than it is today, 2 years from now it will be worth considerably less than half. Stargate will likely be worth the same 2 years from now.
Right now the deal is still a steal.

The 2006 Mr.Pinball Price Guide lists Stargate at $1300 USD. That machine and Cue Ball Wizard maintained their value very well the last few years for Gottliebs/Premiers. Supposed to be quite reliable (I had a Cue Ball Wizard a couple of years ago, and it worked flawlessly for the year I owned it). Speech seem a bit repetitive for Stargate (shoot the pyramid, etc.), and it definitely was for Cue Ball W. Not sure I would trade a large rear projection TV for it though, it depends on the current value/age/features of your TV. All I know is that rear projection TVs are failing/dropping like flies, in fact I had to turn down two free defective 51'' ones recently, and am currently fixing a donated 2-year old 40'' RCA rear-projection TV... ...coolant leaked right onto the boards at the bottom, causing shorts... After seeing this technology and its limitations and problems, I will probably never buy a rear projection TV. That is just me... A few people here are looking for a Stargate. Tartaglia, and perhaps myself later in the future All to say that one person's garbage is another person's treasure Cheers, - Sylvain |
| Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron, 1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others. Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome! |

There will be a huge price drop in january in the market of big TV, LCD will drop up to 40% cause the market has too much supply for demand. Then it means your big Proj TV will loose value. If it is a CRT projection do the trade right F$%^& now. |

I dont't know about a price drop in January... but I've been watching plasma screens drop in price since the first one I saw at NAB in '97. It was a 42" and cost $30,000 USD. No joke! Now almost 10 years later the same can be had for $1,500 CDN - brand new.
Remember, nowadays a TV only lasts 10 years and that's if you're lucky. In my opinion , TV's are a poor investment.

Sounds like the deal is close to being worth it if you don't want the TV, but if the deal falls through, I have a 21-inch Sanyo.... ok, well darn, I want a Stargate but just don't have that kind of cash put together yet.
Update: didn't see the last post on Page 2 of thread.

You gotta be a certain vintage to like a certain vintage I guess. But actually I just like fiddling with EM circuits, and was brought up fixing EM machines so I like the sound of them in action. What's your excuse? |

I agree. The day they come up with something worth watching on them, then they might become worth while. I get 61" of high resolution crap. You want to send me that 3" B&W? Hardcor. All I can answer you to your question "what is a stargate worth"?... not talking about it this much. |
