I was reading this on RGP this morning:

Seems that Wayne, the guy that was going to save pinball, has taken to buying containers of used pinballs from Portugal, i guess the MM remake is going well, and guess what? He got screwed and then he posts on RGP for what? Is he looking for sympathy?    What goes around, always comes around.  

Can anyone give a bit more background on this guy (WAYNE)?  I would like to find out more in case I have to deal with any of this in the future.

as bitter sweet as it is, I have to grit my teeth and offer sympathy. I don't like seeing anyone get screwed, no matter how much of a grinch they are.. especially after being screwed myself around this time last year.

I thought that Waynus guy had been refunding money to people who have preordered MM from him?

About a year ago when I was really new to the hobby  I remember stumbling on his online order form, $5000 US$. Wasn't there also a plan to do Cactus Canyon?

Even if he refunds the money, he can use their money as an interest free loan. He can invest it and earn interest. Wayne stinks, period.

He's also not refunding the money as freely as he used to, apparently.

I think Wayne really wanted to make it happen, and at $5K a throw, probably wouldnt have made much on it either at the volume expected.

Anyway, so long as he refunds all the money, I don't think he deserves to be berated. Maybe I am missing something here.

Yeah. I guess in some ways it's justifiable to laugh at Wayne. After all he was paying for that container load with money he screwed other people out of.

Exactly. It's not like he just puts people's money into a savings account. He's obviously using it to buy pins in order to sell them at a profit.

In which case people with deposits might have cause for concern. Ahe is posting on RGP that he is losing money, he may be setting up for a bankruptcy.

FRom what i gathered when i looked into it, he is pretty slimy.

That being said, rebuilding ANY dead company, or product is full of bad debts, false starts and ususally lots of unhappy investors.... On the Motorycles side,  it took a LOOOONG time to come out with the new "Indian" motorcycle Company, having more than a few people claim to own the rights, making mock ups for shows, courting investors and dissapearing. many many people, lost many many millions of dollars trying to build the company (whether it was their plan to really do the work or not is debatable)

Just ramblings from RGP.. I can't be bothered as they may or may not be true.. and since I don't have any of my own money invested, I really couldn't care less.  

How long did it take to get your own refund back?  The complaints have been fairly recent (within the last few months, since the refund debacle in the UK happened)

It brings me great joy to see this... and I have nothing invested in it -  but karma is a bizzle!

If you put aside the MM/CC debacle Wayne has been a mixed blessing.

He has produced a fair number of parts, although I do find parts to be exceedingly expensive. $175 for a piece of plastic you would pay $15 if it were in the shape of a garden gnome vice a gold eagle. I understand price vs volume but really how many people want a garden gnome and is >10X the price for lower volume really justified?

On the other hand he has failed to negotiate licenses with many who produced parts and basic killed the supply line elsewhere. Electing to send out boilerplate C&D letters vice attempting to commence negotiations. To me this shows him to have no tact when it comes to negotiation which would be good for business and good for the collectors.

In the end his approach to the pinball community pretty much leaves something to be desired.

I think the RGP post is bogus...

Wayne is certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed,
... but he's not THAT dumb .

Assuming for a moment that he would be stupid enough to buy a container of pins,
surely he would have known the negative feedback he'd generate on RGP.

I think somebody is pulling a prank...

Everything I've read about Wayne leads me to believe he's a class-A jerk,
and this would indeed be sweet Karma....,   but I don't buy it...

Yes I do think that MM will get done, but not CC...I'm not a fan of Wayne. But he made me wait for this MM replying ,     2 or 3 more months,    for 2 years.

Refund took 1 month and a half. That was at spring 2009.

Yes, the wires are much longer from Australia to here for a wire transfer. Takes those electrons quite a bit more effort to cross the pond.
