I said I'd try it out and let you all know. Basically, it lives up to the hype. This device is amazing. I have a net book, an iPhone, and have used other tablets before but none can compare. The fluidity of the touch interface is like nothing I've used before. Sure, it's a big iPod touch, but that turned out to be a very good thing!
Lying back on my couch here with the iPad is THE best way to surf the net. Flipping around web pages is fast and fun.
This is not a computer! Sure, it has a CPU, but it's not meant to replace your desktop/laptop. I typed this all on the virtual keyboard, it wasn't as bad as I thought, but I'd use a real keyboard to write anything long form. But it can get the job done. Also i keep spelling iPad in this pretentious way due to apple's autocorrect feature.
Also, reading comic books with this is amazing. Goodbye long boxes! Imagine being able to bring hundreds (thousands?) of comics with you on a flight, or a long drive.
Games? So far they're pretty cool. They're mostly ports of iPhone games so far so they're just fancier looking but I expect that future iPad designed games will be even better.
If you don't like apple, or you think it's too expensive, or you don't like the fact that it's missing this or that feature, you should at least give them credit for making something new. Hopefully the competition will come out with some cool android based tablets that will drive down prices and bring these great devices to more people.
I'm just scratching the surface. There's still thousands of other apps and things for me to try out.

Nice to see that it works well....AND I'd love to see a comic on it!
BUT man, if its not going to replace laptops....whats the point! Do we really need another electronic device to add to the collection of things that all do the same thing (Iphone, laptop, desktop, psp, etc, etc, etc.)

Ok as a gamer this I take exception with.
My buddy just got an iphone and I was playing with it on the trip to PATZ and my Fiancee has a ipod touch and I've played a few games on there.
Games with a touch interface are the most unintuitive pieces of sh!t I've ever played. I've never played platforming games with such are horrible interface in my entire life. Apple's attempt at a touch related game pad FAILS miserably. I've never been as frustrated with the controls of a game as I was with the games that I played on the touch and phone and I highly doubt if you are saying that the ipad is just a larger version of both that some how apple miraculously figured out how to make game play better.
Simple games like card games and simon work just fine, but in no way will any apple touch device be able to considered any kind of gaming device.
But you are a fanboy so I guess I never really expected an objective review on the device anyway, so carry on.
I'm trying to figure this guy out. Obviously the persona is a fake but equally obvious is he knows what he's talking about. I think the thing I am getting the most out of it is his self awareness and just taking it over the edge with this ridiculous character.
My wife commented that, that could me on there. I could hardly disagree with her statement, looking around me I couldn't build a good argument against it other than her being here; so I left that one alone.
Don't worry, Jonny.. the novelty will wear off when you realize you've just spent $600 on an iPod with a bigger screen. I'll be a little more impressed with them around version 3 or 4, when they've finally got a web cam, DVD drive and USB port.
Own Magic, Star Gazer, Batman Forever, STTNG, Mystery Castle (project)
Gone Fairy, Secret Service, Meteor x3, Title Fight, Eight Ball Deluxe, Bone Busters Inc., Seawitch, Starship Troopers, Strange Science, Arena, Hook, Pin*Bot x2, Time Warp, Motordome, Robocop, Black hole, Jurassic Park , Wipe-Out, Pinball Pro: Challenger I, Swords of Fury, Stargate, Party Zone
I never really thought of that; that would be sweet.
Standard comic dimensions are 17 x 26 cm (6 ⅝" × 10 ¼") so I suppose, ideally, the screen should be around 12" or 13". That JooJoo that Brock mentioned before might be ideal: https://thejoojoo.com/
Edit: The JooJoo seems to be limited unless it gets absorbed by some open-source movement.
http://www.pinballowners.com/ottogd Pins: Congo - High Speed - Cue Ball Wizard - Spirit - Eye of the Tiger - Quintette - Spectrum - Guys Dolls - Catacomb - Road Kings - Police Force - Cyclone - TX-Sector Vids: Asteroids - Centipede - Galaga - Joust - Ms Pacman - Super Sprint - Atari Cocktail (60-in-1) - Vectrex EM shooter: Midway Gang Busters EM Pitch & Bat: Upper Deck Slot: IGT 'M' Progressive ('86)
I'll be a little more impressed with them around version 3 or 4, when they've finally got a web cam, DVD drive and USB port.
I think it'll never happen. Why when they can get people to just buy a new version every 2-3 years. Great business model if you’re selling it but what does that say for the people buying them? I can't believe people call it innovative when you take a product and put a bigger screen on it. People today seem to get impressed too easy.
Honestly Donnie. I don't know if this means it's good or bad. I mean "lick a**" is that a good thing? Stay away from what, iPad or JooJoo. I have a hard time getting excited about something that sounds like a sanitary napkin.

Yes the ipad is an ipod touch with a big screen.
I have fat fingers! SCORE!
Love it or hate it i think its cool. and I am an ANTI mac guy! I used to be a fanboy, then i got sick of Steve Jobs whole "A computer is like a toaster... buy a new one every few years" mentality.

Yes I realize "LICK A5S" could be construed as good for some people
Glad you're enjoying J, I'm a fan of digital comics and it's one option I'd probably take advantage of. I'm sure there's room for improvement but there's also lots to enjoy right now too.
Yes, it supports comic via the comixology app (for buying comics) and comic zeal (for cbr/cbz). It's weird, comics almost look better. The colours on this thing are extremely rich.
Currently reading some Buffy season 8 and Walking Dead.
