So I make a last minute decision to take the day off
and do much needed yard/house work while it's still nice outside
and the whole family is gone to school or other activities.

I work on building my shed and after a few good hours of work,
I decide to "treat" myself to some KFC,  ...which my wife will never allow in the house !

So I hop in the car and head-off to the local KFC.

As I approach the intersection, I see a cop turning people away
and sending them in the opposite direction.
They've completely sealed off a large section of a very busy road  ( Montreal Rd. at Blair )

Since the KFC is right around the corner, I park my car on the side of the road
and decide to dash in.

As I approach the place, about 500 ft away I see ...

6 Ambulances
3 Fire Trucks
More cop cars than I count ( probably 12-14 cars )
Tactical Units
Two OC Transpo buses
Media crews from CBC, Global and A-Channel

As I walk into the KFC, I ask the sole shift manager what's going on

"... f*** if I know, but it's completely shut down all my lunch rush business
and I've got 200 f---ing pieces that'll go to waste if no-one shows-up soon !  "

...so semi-jokingly I ask:

"... so is there a Fire sale on the chicken ? ...say,  $5 for a bucket ?  "

He looks at me, deadpan, pauses      ...  " make it $7 and you've got a deal ! "

So here I am,  gunking-up my keyboard with grease,
eating my 8th piece of chicken,  wondering why the hell can't I find pinball deals like this !    

Still,  eating enough KFC to make the average mortal puke
has always been a closet fantasy of mine...


YUM !  

[BTW : If anyone has "connections" as to what was going on on Montreal Rd.
please let me know.  It looked pretty bad... ]

I recall seeing ambulances heading East on the Queensway when I drove into work this morning near Moodie. I wonder if it's connected? Must be something big, like a bomb scare.

Now I really want some KFC. Damn you!

Well Steph, the world could be going to hell in a hand basket (no pun intended) but more importantly you got your intake of 3000 calories.

I noted that the story ended without an explanation as to what the crisis was but that you had your "finger lick'n good" bargain.
