This is my High Score. I think the previous score (Amazingly High) posted on this board is fake. Here's my picture to prove mine... It's not that high (I know), but if you have a picture, post it to show you bettered it.
I like to see where people are at, so I have something to aim for.

I didn't want to get into this again because there seems to be a lot of non believers. I opened that game new in box, back in 92. Flipper links were breaking weekly, can you imagine? f*** no!!! because you have not played a pinball in a commercial establishment!!! Well I did achieve that score and I don't care if nobody believes me. I got complaints about the flippers being weak when the game was new. The scores were a lot higher than you think is good. I would love to put my Getaway in a local bar in Ottawa and see who can beet even 1 billion. I bet not too many would even try.

On my machine I have a high score of around 300,XXX,XXX. According to Adam on my machine it's difficult to lock the ball with the right flipper being weaker than he is used to. I achieved this score BEFORE a flipper rebuild. Even after the rebuild, I find its just a matter of making the shot dead on. Otherwise it just doesn't quite make it up the ramp. I keep my incline at the factory recommended level, maybe slightly higher.
Did notice there is a slightly different coil on my right lower flipper but it still plays well to me. If it is 5% weaker than some, it hasnt affected my game play.

It's not weaker then I'm used to, it's weak. I'm also not the only one who said so, I've owned a getaway, I've played tons of other versions of the machine and your flippers are weak.

Well since you brought it up.....
The score in question according to workingpins is a score he (or his friend I forget) put up of 86 billion.
86 billion is a impossible score unless you are cheating or giving out extra balls for every 5 million points, end of story.
I've become less thrilled about posting high scores because it's never quantifiable. I honestly think there is little point for there even being the record of high scores, as there is on Twin Galaxies, when it comes to pinball because there are just so many variables it's impossible to have an accurate level of control in order to quantify those high scores.
Yea I have over 400 mil on Glen's getaway, but maybe Terrance's Getaway plays harder or faster or isn't level, or the flippers are a bit weaker, or, or, or. Even High scores on the same machine aren't quantifiable as things wear down and the play of the machine changes.
Pinball is not like video games where, as long as you have the same version they are exactly the same.
Anyway I guess this is all in good fun, just something I've been thinking about for a while now.
I agree, But a great player will find a way to post a big score even if the pinball is not in great shape ( but the flipper must me good ) .
