Does anybody have a spare Data East Allen/Hex tool for my Data East Tommy?

I want to swap the lock out of the backbox for the backglass, the game didn't come with the key, although it is in the unlocked position right now. I know Marco has these, I was hoping to find a multiple DE game owner locally that would be willing to part with one.

Thanks,

Dan

I've got a allen wrench that fits the backbox lock- that's no problem.

My problem is the the Torx style screws for the backglass lock ( at the top center of the front of the back box ), have a little post in the middle, and it looks as if only the specific tool may do the job. I do have TORX screwdrivers, one that would fit this, but that little post would not allow it to work.

Would these even be available at CDN TIRE?

No on some data east the locking mech for the head in the back looks like a torks but it really is a over sized allen key like mark said.

Good call, Corey.

I just got off the phone with Princess Auto, they do have them in stock, I just needed the one size - but the set never hurts ( especially @ $6 -$10! ).

Dan

I'd still be interested in the ACTUAL tool if someone finds one. Thanks, Ethous, that's the wrench, but it's not quite what I was looking for... I'm not sure but I think the original tool has a security TORX tool on the end??? I could be wrong about this though...

For Data East, Stern and Sega the backbox key is just a large L shaped allen key with solid ends. I know the Williams/Ballys came with a small L shaped tool with the security torx on the end for the screws of the translite lock. It seems pretty scarce tho as I've only ever gotten 1 with all the games I've bought. I've never received one with a DE or Sega game tho. Unfortunately I also only have 1 large Allen key otherwise I'd fire off one to you.

Hope that clarifies.

That's clear.

Thanks, Mary Ellen, I'm just going to get those security torx bits from Princess Auto. That'll work!

Or you can go to Cdn Tire and pay 40$ for the same damn thing..  Which is what I did before learning about Princess Auto..

You'll probably use the set on other pinball things anyway.  The launch handles on some games and DM handles use security Torx screws.
