Me too!  Had to see it a second time as my wife and youngest daughter (and our exchange student) hadn't seen it.  That's ok, I had no problem seeing it twice.  If anyone does go, for the love of god, see it in 3d!  Even fakeMax is a nice upgrade, though I do wish it was playing at the real IMAX screen at the museum of civilization.  If they ever play it there, I'll be seeing it a 3rd time!

The 3D was great!  That's how it's supposed to be seen for sure, so don't waste your money on the 2D version.

But...

Without the 3D aspect, the movie was kinda "meh".. it was good, don't get me wrong.  But nothing spectacular.  And it was long.

It's not for everyone for sure. I did find though on the second viewing I appreciated even more the "sci" in the "sci-fi".  Amazing ideas on the science behind avatar.  Sure, not everything is perfect (it's a hollywood production) but jeez, Cameron and his team really thought a lot of this stuff through, and yes including the "landscape" (trying to stay spoiler free here).

Saw it last night, one of the better movies I have seen in a while...had a decent story line and the visuals in 3D were quite amazing actually....

Funny. I thought the exact opposite. I really liked the story and the creativity displayed in creating a world remarkably different than our own. Afterward, I commented to my brother I thought the movie was so good it could stand on it's own and would be enjoyable without the 3D. I cann't say that for all movies I have seen in 3D.

Like others have said, see it in 3D. Worth the money. That said, the story, environment, effects, etc. are so good, in my opinion, that I will still enjoy it when it comes out in DVD.

Cheers,
Duane

Decent film...  Good visual,  but story way too long, too much cliche...  wasn't impress with 3d, sure forest was good in 3d, but didn't add anything to the action for me... Avatar 3D with Dbox motion technology could make this film better.

Saw it in 3D IMAX with my wife over Xmas.  She didn't know much about it cuz SciFi isn't her cup of tea.  After the movie ended, she turned to me and said "That was amazing!"  I definitely want to see it again so I can just enjoy the visuals this time.

I dunno about that. I was taught the same story in history class. Only diference was the "sky people" were "red coats" and the natives were not blue
