In the fine print of the Paypal policy which everyone agrees to when they sign up, it states that a seller cannot charge a premium (be it 3% or whatever) to accept Paypal. That is why Ebay cancels auction, like Corey's and I have received the same treatment. It was clearly explained in the email I got from them and I assume Corey got the same.
Any seller has the option to not accept Paypal in their auction, but it has become so convinient that it probably turns a lot of buyer away from your auction if you do not accept Paypal. I see it to be no different that walking in a store and it states "Cash Only", even though the prices may be great, the inconvinience to go get cash, will cause many buyer to not return.
If you are selling something for Local Pickup only it makes sense to not accept Paypal, but if there is shipping involved, Paypal seems to have become the standard. I also have seen many sellers of Pinball machines and other expensive items accept only $500 by Paypal as a deposit and the rest by money order or wire transfer.
Their double dipping pisses me off, so I rarely sell anything on Ebay anymore. I am sure others feel the same. It is their loss in the end. I do not like their service (mainly their fees) so I go elsewhere.
