... providing it is the same gauge of steel. I have a set of new legs at home and a bunch of old ones... The new legs are of the same flimsy gauge as on my Fireball Home Edition. I had them on my Big Game for a short time, and I could barely lean on the machine without it wobbling and causing it to tilt.
Is it an atom? No, it's multiball! Complete MAACA-Wacko!

I work with a corrugated/ribbed steel product and have 3 engineers here, one is a professor. Based on my past experience, I can say the ribbing MIGHT strengthen the leg. An engineer can point out things are not always what they seem.
If you want to be anal, there are probably quite a few other factors, including the details of the connection point of the leg, the tensile strength of the steel, the length of the leg, the gauge of the steel, the shape of the bend of the angled iron, the shape and location of the ribs...................heavier legs are better!

I just did.
And yes... dead on there. The tensile strength of a pinball leg hasn't varied all that much, but the gauge has, hence the popularity of ribbing. Considering comparable values of tensile strength, hardness, length and overall shape, the gauge of steel is what sticks out the most.
I am at the point that I recondition older legs. The only problem spot is are the threads on a leg base. when they are worn and rusted, I weld a nut on the inside to make them as new. A little sandblasting and paint, and presto... new leg. And WAY better than a new one.

Crap, you mean I have to shop for good legs, now? I wanna buy some nice Gottlieb System 1 legs, but now you have me scared. Why do we keep making stuff shittier & shittier...

I believe Pinball Resource makes them as they were then. What I am suggesting is that you avoid puttin on legs that go on a WPC pin and put them on a classic pin.
And as for legs, if anyone has some for sale or beat-up ones they want to get rid of, let me know. Like I said, I recondition them to new, except for chromed ones... too expensive to rechrome. I actually sandblast and paint them if too rusted.
