Hey all,

I actually found a Stern Viper. Problem is that I find it a bit pricey. I know what the book says it is worth (by memory, something like 800$US), but I want to know what the REAL market is for one.

Answer the poll... let me know what a very nice fully working Stern Viper with no wear at all is worth.

You should add another option:

It looks interesting but no idea dollar value.

Or, if my wife saw those exposed nipples both the machine and I are out!

Ten SS games...but 8 is my limit!

Thanks Ian's !

Difficult question.

Depends on who is the seller, who is the buyer, when it is sold, where it is sold, the venue,
shipping or not, and the actual cosmetical conditions of the machine (as well as shopped or not).

...Anywhere from $700 to $1100, in my opinion, slightly above book price, but not by much.

There is very little market for grossly inflated prices for machines, especially now with the economy
still in recession in the US.

Yes, I am looking for a Viper (and a Grand Lizard), but given I perform all board repairs and enjoy
shopping my own machines, and given a limited budget, I prefer to buy as-is somewhat affordable
project machines as opposed to pay another tech to do the job for me...

As Azatoth stated above, the machine is only worth what YOU want to spend on it.

But it is easy to overspend and lose money on these toys. I am trying not to anymore...

I just looked at Boston Pinball, and the average price for a Viper is fairly low, however their web site
does not show conditions, and shows a very low qty of Viper sold (it is a fairly rare machine).

Also looking at rsss eBay auction for Iron Maiden - did not sell at $4250. He relisted it at $3750 I think.
I'd be surprized if it sells at that price too. The demand is limited, and the economy slow.

You might have a different answer if you post your question on rgp, as opposed to MAACA

Cheers,
- Sylvain.

No. I found a few classic Sterns in Europe. Considering bringing them here.
