Well I would like to say than you to the members of MAACA.  I really like this site and find the members to be very friendly.  You all seem to get along and there are no flame wars as I have seen on other sites.  I just wanted to say thank you for the help guys.  Anyways on to the topic at hand.  This is my first project.  I had been looking at purchasing a Golden Tee arcade.  I was at a friend’s house and talking to a friend of a friend and he said just build it yourself.  I was kind of surprised that the possibility was there for me to do it.  He had built himself a mame a few years back and we talked over a few beers on what it was and what the project was about.  Well I was hooked.  So this is what I have so far.  Please feel free to give me pointers and advise as I sure could use some.  .  Just a footnote.  I am now going to start wiring the control panel and then start working on software (which I am still not decided what to do yet).

The sign shop was loving you.  They said you saved them lots of time.  They printed all 4 pcs on vinyl for under $80 with tax.  (Cheap in my opinion)

I was missing screws to install the joysticks, I picked them up today and will install them tonight and get some wirring done.  I am really slow with all this as it is all new to me.  I spend more time reading then actually doing.  I re-read everything because I do not want to screw up.  haha.

Better to do that than screw up something catastrophic. Minor mistakes are good lessons though.

It pays to be a prepress operator, I know what other print shops would want      Did you print the marquee on vinyl as well?

Anyway, looking forward to seeing some finished pics

They printed the marquee on translucent?  I have it sandwiched between lexan.  Looks good when the light is on and the room is dim.  The white really POPS OUT.

Well I learned a lesson tonight.  I took the push buttons off and removed the lexan to screw the joysticks into the control panel.  Well when I pull the lexan off it actually pulled some of the ink with it.   Around the push buttons is the only place it did it.  It was anyplace that was actually snug between the vinyl and lexan.  Now it looks like I am going to have to have it reprinted.  I wish I knew what did this.  the type of vinyl?  If so I will ask for a different type.  I do plan on doing work on this in the future and cannot have this happening every time.
I also have to figure out how to get the ink off the lexan without scratching it all to crap.  I so do not want to have to buy a new sheet to re-cut the control panel or re-drill all those holes again.

Anyone know what I did wrong?  What is the best way to get the ink off the plexi glass?  Any tips?

no idea about getting the ink off the plexi, but my guess is that the ink / vinyl peeled due to moisture build-up.  I wouldn't worry about printing it on vinyl if it's going under plexi anyway, just regular paper would work fine (since the plexi will make it look glossy regardless).  Printing on regular matte paper at the print shop should bring your cost of reprinting down significantly.

Hope that helps.
