I have an early prod F-14. There's a few of these out there but this serial number is pretty low  95912. Since I picked up this thing I've done a lot to it. Fixed the random tilt, repaired the beacon motor...THAT was a pleasure...not, and a few other things I cant even remember.  Cleaned this, adjusted that and today I replaced all of the rubber sleeves and cleaned the star posts, new rubbers etc. As I was fumbling around I looked at those wires that are taped up which would go to the two flashers that are not there anymore on F-14's.

I have some spare flashers so I installed them where the holes are. Next I had to figure out how to rewire those flashers to work properly, as they were initially intended.  For this I went to http://www.ipdb.org/files/804/Williams_1987_F_14_Tomcat_Service_Bulletin_41.pdf

Basically all you do is reverse the procedure. Don't forget to rewire the lamp resistor board.

The reason for this procedure in the first place is that the targets by those 2 flashers will touch eventually and short out Q42. So I taped with electrical tape, some foam around those two sockets low enough so it doesn't interfere with changing bulbs, yet high enough so those targets can hit those flashers and never short.

If you have an early prod F-14, you outta try this. Its cool! The lower right flasher flashes when you hit the pop bumper, and when it ejects from the lock at launch. Hit the flippers before launch and watch those flashers dance! Its so good to see the full working potential of how the game was really intended to be. And now it really is a full fledged working early production example of this game.

I activated the 2 flashers on my f14 too. Same thing, I put some tape around the flasher.
However, I rewired the resistors on an UNUSUED flasher board. Also they are connected to the unused pins on the drv board. Pretty cool.
