I have a BOPP and am having troubles adjusting the kick-out hole switch.   The manual does not show much with regards to part numbers.

The wood-part of the kick-out hole is in good condition with little to no wear.

Symptom:
Sometimes the ball enters the hole, but fails to trigger the switch.

Temporary Fix:
Play-Dooh.   A bit of playdooh in front of the hole (i.e., the down-side towards the flippers (on the verical edge).   This makes the ball sit further back in the hole and therefore rest on the switch.

Actual Fix:
It seems the switch is not designed to be moved foward/backward in the hole.   There's two screws holding the switch assembly and loosening does not give any play.    The switch assembly is custom for kick-out holes I guess - with one of the blades have a tit on it that sticks out the kick-out hole.

Suggestions:
Any ideas?   I have adjusted the switch fairly close/tight - but still the ball can sneak in the hole without making contact.

  • New Switch Assembly:  Should I find the part number and order a new switch assembly with maybe a larger tit?
  • Move Hole: If I could move the hole - but that's impossible
  • Wood epoxy:  Put wood epoxy in (instead of playdooh).   I don't really like this for cosmetic reasons
  • Move SwitchUnscrew switch / plug holes and re-screw switch assembly in at a better angle/position.

Thanks,
Doug.

Agree - and I never did well in English descriptive language.   Its hard to get at for a photo - but I'll try...  ...I'm not the best at annotating photo's so I hope they are self explanatory.

This might sound strange but....  Are you sure that's a standard sized pinball???  Seems small...  It should be 1 1/16"..  Tilt balls are 7/8"..  It's only a 3/16" difference but it matters!!!

I've seen this before where someone took the "tilt" ball and used it as a pinball - and it was on an EM too....

Seems that a small piece is missing: it should be protuding from the two bottom
rectangular slots to position the ball properly on a 'tripod'.

- Sylvain.

Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron,
1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others.
Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for
one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!

Only on MAACA would I not take offense to someone thinking my balls are small

You had me thinking maybe that was it - rushing to grab the ball and compare it to others...

...hard to measure them without calipers (yet another tool to add to the list) - but I believe the ball is the right size.    I used a small square on the workbench and they both seemed the same size.  (Kinda measured them like measurements in curling...)

I put a new ball in, and it too has the same problem.

Ahh, that makes sense - I guess that is why there's those two slots.   Would this be a part you ask PBR for?   Anyone know the part number - or do I need the whole assembly.

Yeah it's hard to tell from a picture..  Anyway what Sylvain said seems right on the money...  You can see the corrosion and where the part should be from the bottom picture..

Good pickup Sylvain!!

No kidding.   Hindsight's 20/20 - I should have seen that - but wasn't looking for a missing part.   Hey, he said all the parts were there - I want my money back          (Joking & sarcastic of course!)

I doubt you can get that part or assembly anymore (unless you buy used)..  Might be easier to just make the part and "glue" it on with JB-Weld..  I'll check my 6MDM to see if it has the same type of assembly and if it does I'll take a few pictures for you.

*EDIT* My 6MDM has the same assembly, just checked on my gameroom pics...  I'll get closeups for you..

Thanks guys.   I contact PBR and got a quick response (not many words - but a quick response     ).   They actually have the part and its cheap:

1 #A643-XX Mount Bracket Assembly $5.89ea + Shipping

The DMD, manuals, posts, rubbers, etc that I need won't be cheap

BTW - Is it stupid to order bulk rubbers from PBR - or is there an incredibly cheaper way/place to get bulk-rubbers?
