So I just finished watching the TOP videos and I have a question or 2 about Mylar.

It seems that shaggy and Norm seem to go through great lengths to remove mylar from the play field but do not put it back on all the time. They say a few times that Mylar changes the "feel" of the game? Can anyone go further into depth on this one?

I guess I am looking for a Pro/Con list for Mylar.

Thanks all.

I'll put it back on in the high wear areas if I feel it's necessary.

Mylar is good for route games because it can take much more abuse from a wear standpoint then the actual playfield.  It would have to wear threw the mylar before it can start to wear through the artowrk and playfield.

Thagt being said in a home enviornment since we generally keep our games is much better shape then anything out on route mylar isn't overly necessary.  As long as you keep the dirt off the playfield wear happening is a rare occurance.

But what they mean about changing the feel is that I personnaly find that it can and does effect the way a ball travels.  My ST:TNG has mylar at the sling shots on both sides.  I find that if there is a slow moving ball in the area of the mylar it effects the way the ball travels since there is a ridge it has to travel over and if the ridge didn't exist the ball would have traveled diffrently.

But as an example I put mylar in the shooter lane on my LOTR because I found that the shooter lane was starting wear, since the ball only gets shot out of the shooter lane the mylar never really effects the ball travel.
