I emailed back and forth with the seller at around 730 tonight and he hadnt sold it yet but was expecting 2 people to drop by. Said he bought it for $1300, after I told him I was pretty sure who he bought it from. I didnt mention the MAACA asking price without any fixes was $1000.00 Said he had since fixed the metal ridge on the mini playfield and the bumper Daleks (whatever they are). I think a.stebel also swapped out the degassed DMD.
Said he needed to sell as fiance was pissed he lost $ on the stock market. Maybe he needs a new fiance because its kinda hard not to be down on your stocks these days. Guess the guy who paid $1750 bought in after the stocks bottomed out!
Anyway just played on Vpinball and it seems like a boring theme unless you are a Brit who grew up on the show. By the way Dr Who seemed like a really dry tv show, like a British Space 1999 if anyone remembers that stinker from the 70's. Stargate is another one I never heard people comparing favourite episodes of. The sounds and stuff on the game sounded kinda dull. One main toy on the pf, the elevating mini pf, dead in the middle. Glad its gone because this would have been one flipper game to flip quickly by my estimation.
Keep groovin' to 80's pinball machines! Complete MAACA-Wacko!

Dr. Who is a fun game, I liked the show theme and music, and the game has some strategy to playing it. Never trust VpinMame to evaluate a pinball without trying it live. Some of the emulations are worse than live, and some actually play BETTER than in real life.

I have to chirp in here and say that I love the music from the show, almost sci-fi techno. Sure the sets were limited but many British shows are like that. It is more about the story instead of the action. As for the pinball machine, I have never played it but if it has some of the music from the show, I would give it a try just for that.

It plays the original theme and captures it. I beleive the Sound Lab at the BBS was the forerunner of electronic music / sound effects and their work (particularly shows like Dr. Who and other Sci Fi) was the basis of the electronic keyboards that came out of that era. (I could be wrong but I swear I read that somewhere.)

The seller said the guy who bought it has a real nostalgic love for Dr Who the TV show and most likely it was a long term keeper for him. Honestly, I always thought it was one of those shows they played on TVO that nobody watched and that is why it was on a not for profit channel.
Now, if they had a Dave Allen At Large pinball I definitely would be a taker. That guy smoked a carton every episode. Maybe he was just anxious about his missing finger! Anyone here remember that show.? What about a Benny Hill machine with the old man chasing the young girl loop award? Better text Gary Stern in the morning.
PS- I thought Moog was one of the, if not the originator of the sound synthesizer. That would be if you excluded the Theramin of course, which was invented by a Russian in the 20's or 30's if I remember correctly.
