Hi Guys,
I've been lurking for a while and I often see that so-and-so just acquired a Gorgar or a Pinbot and I wonder where you guys are getting these A list titles? Other then Kijiji or Craigslist what other (secret) sources do you guys peruse (or are they too secret). Give a newbie a break
Regards,
Scott

Hey Welcome to the group

Gorgar and Pinbot don't really fall in the "A" list category for a pinball

First thing and most helpful would be where you are located as that will help us know if there is anything avaliable in your area.

As for resources for finding pinballs, this site is great if you are Canadian, probably one of the best Canadian sites around for finding machines.

There is also http://www.mrpinball.com  Which is a great pinball classified site.

Ebay is also an option that you didn't post below, not a great option but some people have had some success on there.

Really the best advice I can give is to just immerse yourself in the local community, the more people you know in the area, the more people you can tap when you are looking for a machine.

If you are patient enough (and quick enough) just about everything comes up here at a reasonable price and with good access and pics, etc.  Otherwise, unless you are connected to a distributor or someone with a route, then you pretty much need to be an ambulance chaser and haunt as many classifieds as you can (online = Kijiji, craiglist, ebay, RGP, etc.)

Be careful, the hunt is addictive.

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions but Vengeance makes a good point. What titles would fall into the A, B, or C categories. It's a no brainer that games like  TZ and TAF are in the A list but would all DMD games qualify? What about my poor CCM Super Star (bought it to get back into the hobby). Based on the IPDB ratings it might be in the Z category

Some people's "A" list game is a "B" list for others. It is just a guide and probably the best thing to do is go for what appeals to you.

I know that some members rightly pointed out that they are thankful that some of their favorite titles are not on some list which means that the games are easier to get at a better price versus the hot game of the month that everyone wants for many thousands of $$$. Think of Classic Stern and Gottliebs for example. I know that half of the fun for me is discovering a game that I have never played before (Bally Spectrum) and get to try out at one of the pinball events. I may want that one all of a sudden if space and money were not an issue.

So my 2 cents includes researching, hunting for pins, playing them at events - basically exploring instead of simply looking at the "A" list title which is subjective for everyone.

Ricker's current lineup;

El Dorado          Flash.                   Royal Flush           Joker Poker
Volley               Pioneer                 Barracora             Black Knight
Meteor             Xenon

I've always said, the A, B and C classifications has everything to do with price and little to do with prefrence.

A - Games on average priced above the 3K mark

B - Games on average priced between 1500 - 3000

C - Game on average priced lower then 1500

Simple, no reason to argue what's A, B or C just use it as a price point so you understand generally what you should be paying for a game.

Agreed with Rick ! Depends what you personnaly like . It may have to do with my age , but i ' m into SS games from the late '70s early '80s era . Lately tough , a lot of people have been selling their DMDs and buying SS games ...

Well this is another take on the subject. Seems like the division has been made around 1985 which kind of makes sense, because playfields definitely started becoming more populated with toys, ramps, and other gadgetry around that time, so comparing the two eras is not really fair.

Judging by the classic bike jsthomps is sitting on, I'd say he'd be into the classics

You can set up kijiji to send you an email whenever a search word you put in comes up (ie "pinball").  Always interesting to see some come up in your mail nearly every morning.  Depending where you live they'll likely get snatched up right away but here in NB some machines stay up there forever.

I'd say in general though, if you're here on MAACA you probably hit the best place to be in Canada.  Seriously!

Finding a pin is a bit like finding a job. It's a little bit of watching the classifieds, but mostly networking. Cruising this site is a good way to hit both.
