Just out of curiosity... If I had a budget of let's say 400$ and wanted an EM, regardless of condition (wear is no issue for me) which would you recommend?

I have played Centigrade 37 and liked it a lot. I like a challenging game with nice features on it. My turn-offs:

- any pink anywhere on the machine

- clowns... I hate frickin clowns

- boring playfield with not much going on.

Any suggestions?

Volley possibly .. El Dorado is a tough find and usually over the .4K mark,

Actually the Volley at the Church last night with the LEDS looked pretty cool

I got to play an EM Cleopatra last week that I found quite fun to play.

Jacks Open was also another one I got to play and enjoyed as well.

Seeing as these are EM's,  I'm not sure how much they go for...

I agree with Jacks Open. I like the logic of trying to make specific drops in succession. I find with this game the score and ball times are pretty much balanced between making all the hands and rolling the machines score. If you make all the hands your pretty much at the top end of scoring without having the game roll over.

Personally I would like a Wizard but likely card or pool themed game would be more intersting to play. I don't know what Wizard's go for but I am thinking at least double your budget.

I like 2001 and Abra Ca Dabra. $400.00 might be a tad tight.

Also Skyjump and Top Card, the latter is tough to find but a challenging game.

If you find any of these for that price let me know, i too would like ONE nice EM in my collection. See WTB section!

Ten SS games...but 8 is my limit!

You know, regarding El Dorado, I've played the piss out of Target Alpha (which has the same playfield layout) and for the life of me I can't figure out why that game gets so much love. I adore drop targets, but that massive bank of targets at the top of the playfield just seems so incredibly ridiculous. And the two small flippers are placed in such a way that they're basically completely useless. It just seems like such a dumb design, yet Gottlieb obviously LOVED it because they released the same playfield layout on SEVEN DIFFERENT GAMES!

I've tried to understand, but I just don't get it.

Une game rapide? = Williams

Malgré que je cherche quelques Gottlieb, je suis vendu a Williams depuis le debut! Pas toutes des bonnes games mais tres rapide comparé au Bally et Gottlieb... On parle toujours de EM là....

Well, believe it or not the art maybe lame on my segasa casino royale but the game is quite decent. That is why I am making it a custom pin, the casino wheel that is time base in the middle of the playfield is quite fun to deal with plus the rest of the game is also fun.  I guess you would have to take my word for it since I don't think many of you had the chance to play with it.  Today it is casino royale but in the not so distant future it will be "crazy leprechaum".

keep on playing

Ahh El Dorado, the title evokes pure joy. To play one is to love one. and ditto for the Volley. Of course I am partial since I have those and an Abra Ca Dabra and even a Royal Flush but I have to admit, getting one around $400 would be challenging because if they are in great shape, they should go for more. At that price I would snap em up if they work & if space permits.

So many good pins like Atlantis, Centigrade, Big Hit, Surfer, Pioneer and Big Brave and the list goes on and on.... games some of us cut our teeth on. Nicer pins to work on, easier to repair what more could ya want. By the way did I mention that I like Gottliebs???  One of my mini goals in this hobby is to eventually get about a dozen wedges lined up along a wall. Now I just need to start digging and make a bigger bsmt.

Ricker's current lineup;

El Dorado          Flash.                   Royal Flush           Joker Poker
Volley               Pioneer                 Barracora             Black Knight
Meteor             Xenon

Target Alpha just got a fresh coat of wax tonight and is playing like a dream ! Throwdown tomorow night on Target Alpha everyone (all the London guys that show up that is). In London we don't have a "proper" Pinball league  (we should) but we do have last minute get togethers.

Back on topic though.....ahem...I just posted my 1975 Toledo in the classifieds. Great shape and plays very fast. Lotsa fun.

Current line up.....

Bally The Shadow
Bally Creature From The Black Lagoon
Bally Freedom EM (Early Production)
Williams Star Trek : The Next Generation
Williams Whirlwind (Might trade for the right title...try me)
Gottlieb Joker Poker SS (For Sale $1000)
Williams Love Bug (For Sale $600)
Williams Grand Prix
Gottlieb Target Alpha
Gottlieb Silver Slugger (For Sale $900)
Seeburg 1955 100 J Jukebox
