I usally like to play pinball with the lights off and just the lights from the machines themselves(only exception is STTNG I have a single light over head for this). I was thinking of adding 1 48" black light (total of 2)over each bank of machines .Was wondering if this was a good idea and if the UV would fade the colors of the machines. Spencers sells a 48" for 30 clams, maybe get some posters etc.. I would like to get some arcade carpet (http://www.astrocarpetmills.com/Family_Fun_Center_Carpet.htm) once I finish the basement. Ideas?

Depending on the black light used it will only affect the speed at which it will fade artwork. If I recall, the majority of black lights sold today filter out most of the UV but not all. (But the best black lights are the ones that don't filter the UV)
I couldn't guesstimate how many hours of exposure it would take before colours started to fade though.
