dude sold it to me as not working. was getting 2 red lights and crashing. I took it home played it and about every 5-10 min the 2 red lights would come on and it would crash.

my research showed 2 red lights was for over heating. So rather than open it up and void warranty...I took my air compressor to every nook and cranny with it running so dust dislodged would be blown out exhaust fans.

Let me toll you...there was TONS of dust in this thing, I am still having problems breathing there was so much in the air. Must of been a DIRTY house.

Good news is it works fine now. I just played GTA4/H3 for about 1.5 hours with no problems.

You can crack the case and still get Microsoft to fix or replace it for $100 including shipping if it goes down again. Trust me I did it.

You need to make these tools. There is a seal on the front under the face that will indicate it was openned. I pulled mine down because I was getting read errors and pulled the DVD drive apart to clean it. It was already out of warranty. Turned out the drive was no good in the end. For the $100 they ended up sending me a brand new box!

yeah 1 of the 2 exhaust fans is not working. It is working for hours on end, however, with only 50% of fan power it is just a matter of time.

How did you get around the anti tamper stickers? hair dryer?

Actually depens on version of 360 you have.fist and second are easy to remove sticker.
Also if you want to have it serviced by microsoft you need receipt if you don't they wont.
I am now on my 5th one
but this one is stable.

I didn't have a receipt. It was a box I registered from new.

My anti tamper showed it was open. They didn't seem to care.

Or you could just get a PS3, much quieter, but we're still waiting for the mad rush of games to come out .

Good Lord those 360s are noisy as hell.  I love gears of war though.  Bad a** game.

Can anyone confirm that BOTH of there fans run upon start up?  ONLY the fan on the left(power cord side) runs on start up and i have yet yo see the other fan kick in (AV cable side.
