I was in Oklahoma last month and visited a guy who had a huge converted warehouse as his house, and as a bar/arcade.. he was expanding and had planned many more rooms full of arcade machines.
Sickeningly, less than a week ago, he had a fire in the building in the night, and the entire contents of the building were destroyed, yes, that includes the entire arcade, and everything he owned. Unfortunately he had no home insurance.
This was an awesome gamesroom setup, very nicely finished, and Terry had planned expanding into several more areas of unused space in the warehouse. There was another room full of machines 'pending' proper homes, and some faulty stuff that was also lost.
Terry has lost everything, and is having to rebuild from scratch with his wife and daughter. Fortunately nobody was home when it started, but they literally only have the clothes on their back left.
If anyone feels compelled to help Terry out, you can donate by paypal and all funds will be passed onto him in their entirity, please PM me if you wish to do so.
If you have a gameroom, make sure you have applicable insurance! I have done several appraisals for machines and collections in the past for insurance purposes, let me know if you need this service.

wasn't just the machines. family owned the house since the 60's and it was full of family antiques and such. as you can tell by the pictures. trophy animals are worth a small amount alone. just to much stuff and weird stuff for a insurance office. but you would think that they would have worked something out by now.
Having lost games in a flood in 2004, I speak from experience, when I say it's critical to have good insurance, and double-check your policy to make sure you're not underinsured.
With the changes in weather patterns, insurance companies are becoming more restrictive in what they will insure, and how they insure it. If you don't do it regularly, take time to sit down with your agent and review the terms and conditions of your policy. There have been a lot of changes in the last few years.
