Wow..,  70's and 80's generational Icons took it on the chin today...

Fawcett, passing away today at age 61 after a long fight with cancer,
and Jackson (50)  collapsing of heart failure this afternoon...
(...something smells fishy there... )

Good luck trying to watch anything else on TV tonight...

Steph

I call BULLSHIT in Jackson's case. He is non-existant for YEARS, then schedules not one but dozens of shows apparently sold out at the HUGE O2 arena in London, and croaks just before the first show, amidst rumors of bankrupcy and all the child molestation crap.

He didn't die... he bailed.

Loved his music, hated the person.

The unfortunate side of it is that we now have another Elvis case, where 60 years from now, people will still think he is alive.

Great.

As for Farrah Fawcett, that is truly sad. She was the blonde bombshell most young men in the 70s dreamed of.

"Loved his music, hated the person." Can not agree more.

Well he was an interesting character as much as I will give him credit but it was also one of those situations in history where all the stars lined up that helped his cause.

Flame suit on to take on the MJ army.

He was selling albums before the technology existed to download so he will probably carry the most albums sold record from now to eternity.

He provided content to MTV when there really was nothing for them to put on there of any quality video wise. His videos for the most part were bad, but what MTV had to offer in general was even worse. I remember seeing his Off the Wall videos played at bars before MTV existed. Who knows what they were thinking when they created them? There was no mainstream media for them to play on. There really was a void there that had to be filled and he already had content available when MTV stood up in 1981.

They would have you think he invented choreography. If anything he may take credit for re-introducing it to a new audience.

He was probably the first black artist on MTV.

He could dance and sing, so could my grandmother...

For someone who listened to rock as far as I can tell disco got re-labeled as pop so it was something new?? (Off the Wall sounded like disco to me... come to think of it everything else he did does too)

I must say was a good show man and had the backing of some excellent producers.

In the end history has forgotten many who have contributed far more to mankind than MJ.

Farrah yeah that's a shame. Poor woman suffered in the end. Sad to see her go this way and witness her decline.

In no way am I defending MJ here, although I do think inappropriate things probably happened, I also believe there were vulture parents trying to get money out of him by sacrificing their kids and I'm sure out of the few "out of court settlements", probably most of them were fabricated but it was "cheaper" to just pay them off.  I may be wrong, but to me with all the publicity surrounding the kids stuff, to have parents still let kids sleep over there, I don't know but that's just wrong man!

I was a Jackson 5 Michael fan (still am) ... "Ben" still chokes me up ... once he started turning into Peter Pan, it was all down hill..... but he did have a great voice.

Farrah became better with age and experience, its too bad she was taken early.

Sorry to see Farrah go, she is an icon lost. Never forget the image of that famous poster with the yellow bathing suit. She had one  perky set of t#%ts. I remember going to school with a guy in junior high that had almost the same hair as Farrah!

As for MJ, he was a really cute kid in the Jackson 5, and I can say i still liked him up to Thriller. Actually heard him on XM 70's just a few days ago singing the theme from "Ben". However, maybe because of his crazy upbringing, which was anything but normal, or because he never had the opportunity to be a child, something went wrong. Bad choices abound in his life, with money buying comfort, not happiness. As for the children who were his victims, that is sad. I miss you the way you were a long time ago, not what you became MJ.

What about Ed McMahon- you too were a part of our lives for many years and had to suffer humiliation in recent years due to your financial woes. I am sure you are up there as we speak, shouting, ``Heeeeere`s Johnny!``

Someone told me today, bad things come in threes.

MJ, probably the worlds greatest pop star of all time. His music and memorabilia will soar now. Whatever debts he has/had will get paid and his estate will earn money just like Presley. "estate" being his publishing and holdings etc...not his old ranch...which by the way he sold part of to pay his debts but the funny part is...he's the head of the company he sold it to....not a dumb man. To this day he still owned Neverland Ranch, altho its a different business now.
His heart was in the right place but his head wasn't. How could it be? Any one of you/us would have warped under the tremendous spotlight he's been under his entire life. And don't they always? For sure. End of story.

Huge loss for the music biz, a true icon. And talented as can be. And, like him or not you can bet he'll be missed. And future MJ sightings?...for sure. It'll go on for ever. The world feels different without him somehow. No more Michael Jackson...wow.

Really what does this matter? After I give whatever meager assets I have to my children my plan is to have the last check I write in life bounce.

Make sure that check is split up between the credit card companies, the utilities and the bank.Sad to see Farrah Fawcett go, they actually had her poster on the wall at that crystal beach auction, but someone ripped it off. As far as MJ, he definitely was a phenomenon, his personal demons and sins probably did him in. Might have been better off if he was convicted and confronted his issues, anyhow sad day in any case.

Jeez... he had been pale since Thriller! I personally thought that when he filmed his zombie scene for the Thriller video, he was already dead! I mean, c'mon... look at pictures of him recently... he looked like a mummy with a coat of Tremclad white paint on him.

Here are comparisons... Seti I VS MJ... you decide.

Why did he die?

Some blame it on the good times, some blame it on the moonlight, but I bet it was the boogie

He died after seeing himself in the mirror.  No normal human looks like that.  Off to Area 51 to confirm whether he's alien or not.  Sheesh.  MJ, the guy people loved and praised as a pop icon, died a long time ago.  This MJ just scared people for the last 15+ years.

If he had kicked the bucket 15 years ago he would have stayed a legend...

Mind you according to Time magazine so would this guy had he kicked off in 1938..

Some people just don't know when to call it quits.
