I was lucky enough to take my wife and daughter to IJ4 this afternoon (my wife is 3 days past her due date so I am very very lucky). I have to say that Lucas and Spielberg did an awesome job. It is very hard to live up to the expectations that a trilogy like the IJ movies creates but they did it as good as could be done. The puzzles were there, the action was definately there and the humor was there as well. They stayed true to the character of Indy and the story was as fresh and new as it could be (I mean there is only so much you can do with fist fights, swords, swinging and shooting but they managed to keep it different)
In terms of the pinball - I have not played it yet but I have to say that watching that video on UTUBE has turned me off bigtime. The "JACKPOT" audio definately sounds terrible. Something as stupid as that is a big deal to me being that I play my games ALOT! I am holding off on buying it forsure. I might look to TZ or TAF instead. I, myself, do not mind the translite. I agree it could be better but it does capture the important and exciting parts of the movie series. I don't think a drawing or artists rendition would be better but they could have had a contest open to 12-14 year olds to do the photoshop work and it would have been AWESOME.
I haven't seen the Movie yet, but they have the Pin at the Theatre in Chinook Mall, I tried to play it but it was not working right (Launched 4 balls into the shooter lane at the start of every ball, Lose one and it recorded as ball over. Those 3 extra balls should be in the Ark I believe as it never opened and the magnet didn't work!). That was a week ago, so I would hope it is working by now. What I did play of it seemed pretty good, but really hard to tell. It also had version 1.08 software which is the lowest I have heard of!
If you are at Chinook, go play it and let me know if it is working!!

I saw the movie on Friday and it's very entertaining. I enjoyed it immensely. Wanted to go to the batheroom half way through and just couldn't bring myself to leave. The movie is non-stop action. Very enjoyable and I will see it again this summer for sure.
Saw the movie and played the Pin last night. My take:
Movie (possible spoiler if you haven't seen it): Very interesting but with some style differences since the last three. I think that it is too hollywood-ized in the sense that it is trying to appeal to many others than just old IJ fans. The hero is pretty good, moves well for his age, funny lines, etc. But I find that he is not as big a hero as we remembered/saw him last. The villain (female Russian character) acts darn well but I find Russian stories boring in this day and age (didn't we get enough Russian type films in the 80s)? The young star actually plays a great role. I did find that the cave interior was pretty interesting. Worth watching for sure. Same goes for the warehouse with the crates at the beginning. The motorcycle ride with Indiana in the back of the kid was also interesting. The creature and those effects were of course top notch but then again, I am not a x-files fan so did it need to deal with other life forms? The soundtrack was not really good. Nothing too original. Nothing compared to the tunes of Temple of Doom for example (did John Williams actually compose this one - just a repetition of the old theme I guess). Nobody clapped at the end of the movie in the full room that I saw it in and so therefore I guess it doesn't leave people awed in the end as in the last one....
Pinball: Pretty good. Love the artwork. The translite is nice and I don't see what others are so turned off by it for. It is real pictures vs old Williams drawing so maybe that is why. And the eye was so much on the playfield and DMD that I had no time to look up and admire that translite anyway. The playfield is well designed. Nice toys. Fun shots. The loop is a bit easy. The ramp is a bit easy but they made the flow through it interesting with a pause at the beginning (behind the ark) and a drop down on the left side. The ark magnet movement and sound is just stunning! The ark multiball looks amazing when it spills pinballs all over. The swordsman effect is nice. The Last Crusade scoop is hard to get into. I find that the ball bounces out of it too often (sort of when you put in metal scoop protectors). There is not much included from the 4th movie from what I could tell. I guess Stern didn't have much faith in the story. The voice and announcements are not as bad as when I had heard it from the Video. The screen has nice animations. The live movie clips look ok but too uncolored for my tastes (it is only a 4-8 color dmd I believe). I would have put more hand animations rather than that movie footage. Another thing I hate about these Sterns is that the left 1/4 of the DMD is used for the score which is so much wasted real-estate and makes the rest of the DMD feel like a chopped off screen. Worth playing. Perhaps worth owning but not NIB. The only thing that I really didn't like is that it takes so long when the ball goes down in the two scoops and you have to wait (or pretty flipper buttons to accelerate?) for the messages to appear on the screen for too long. The playfield toys (glowing Shankara stone) make the machine.
Thanks for reading. Have fun watching (and playing).

I thought the movie was a good time, but with some flaws. Better than Temple, but worse than Raiders and Crusade.
Good: -Spielberg is great at directing exciting fight and chase scenes. -Shia LeBouef was not as annoying as I expected. -Some subtle and appropriate references to previous Indy films. -I liked the humour, I thought the jokes worked.
Bad: -Awful McGuffin. -Even worse ending (both the end to the story, and the epilogue). -One of the characters seemed totally superfluous, and only existed as a Deus Ex Machina and plot twist device. I'm good, no I'm bad... -The characters always happened to be going in the right direction, even when driving randomly around in a chase. -Not much puzzle solving, the crystal skull solved all the problems. (spoiler, there's a crystal skull!) -Too much CG, I thought it was supposed to be lite on CG?

The Good of the movie -Fight Scenes -One liners still good. -chase sceens -Love the warehouse scene spescially and reference to the Ark in it. -Nuke scene funny as hell not possible tho
The bad -Villians -Puzzels -The story -The Ending of the quest just pissed me off typicall Spielberg crap.
Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.
Another thing I hate about these Sterns is that the left 1/4 of the DMD is used for the score which is so much wasted real-estate and makes the rest of the DMD feel like a chopped off screen.
I believe this is an adjustable setting in the Menu's, "Traditional vs New". I am not 100% sure, But I think so.
