Does anyone have any comments on Stern's NASCAR that they would like to share.
As stated before, I'm not in love with the license but I will admit to being interested in the playfield layout... I also think that the playfield artwork could have been better.
Has anyone heard anything more on the Grand Prix version?

It is sad that this company never make an original theme pinball. They only use comercials theme like music, film, sport, ect ... No more fantasy or sc-fi pinball.
That's Gary Stern... look at Data East and Sega pinball, when he worked for them. You would be hard pressed to find many original titles. Part of the economics of pinball.
Maybe they should license some of the Marvel comic movies...?
..GODDAMN IT!!! Haven't they learned a goddamn thing? F#@*#@# plastic ramps that crack after a year's use? Use S-T-E-E-L !!!!
Ian,
Why yes they have learned something, just like most businesses today, they have learned to build as cheap as possible and at a quality level that will appease the majority of customers without cutting into profits. Long gone are the days of massed produced items being built to last forever, the new world order goals are cheaper and faster. All hail mediocrity!... all hail planned obsolescence!... would you like fries with that?
Also, I thought that the Grand Prix version for Europe was a done deal? You didn't read my link, did you ... come on fess up.

Pinball News: This is the first Stern game to be sold with two different themes in different geographical areas. Were there always going to be Nascar and Grand Prix versions or was the division decided upon later in the design process?
Pat Lawlor: That was Gary Stern's marketing decision from day one and a very good one in light of our need to sell Europe and the rest of the world games. It was also a very expensive decision from an engineering point of view.
Pinball Inc. has showed the world that you CAN make "indestructible" clear ramps with PETG....let's hope that Stern used the same stuff as well for NASCAR.
The only immediate concern I saw on NASCAR is that it will need a hole protector between the flippers AND FAST... Gruesome memories of Monster Bash playfield destruction due to lack of hole protector comes to mind...
I expect it will do well, due to both themes...

Current 'working' lineup: ( 2 ) Flipper Football, The Shadow
Gone but not forgotten: ( 22 ) City Slicker, Dirty Harry, CFTBL, Big Shot, Big Guns, Black Rose, Judge Dredd, Indianapolis 500, Big Game, BS: Dracula x 2, Beat the Clock, Fire!, F-14 Tomcat, Getaway, Breakshot, Cheetah, Meteor, El Dorado, Nitro Ground Shaker, Chexx Hockey, Slugfest
I think the game looks awesome! I love the total playfield super charger from GetAway Personally I think the license is a winner. I'm not much of a NASCAR fan, but I love cars so I can see the license working for casual players in a bar setting. Would love to see a Grand Prix. Definately prefer that license, but what can you do?
I think the game looks like it has some very interesting shots and initial feedback on the newsgroup has been positive. Cann't wait to play it!
Wish they would have done a better job on the translite art and cabinet. It's not bad, but seriously...that license is begging for some bikini clad ladies on the backglass with champagne bottles a poping

Duane,
I agree with you and Frosken, Grand Prix sounds to be the better license. One good thing about it not being available in Canada is that I will not have to lament about not being able to afford one.
