Hey all,
Any one have kids that are scared of their pins?

My oldest is 4 and he asks me to turn it off every time he is near it. "F-14"
The younger at 2 shakes and says NO when i turn it on.

I guess as they get older thats not an issue?
I know Wbradley's young one is right into the pins! awesome

My son is now 7, my daughter is 3 and they never been scared of any machines i had...

I had a Jurassic Park when my son was 4 and he was totally in love with it !

I guess it depends of the kids themself, they all have a different personality.

My pins used to be setup in our dining room, and my son knew how to turn them on and start a game @ 10 months...  He's been "pin friendly" ever since.

My daughter just turned 4 and she too enjoys playing a game or three. (they love it when all the pins are on and it's the only source of light in the basement)

My kids love them, and my kids' friends love them more.

The only pin I've ever been nervous about was Gorgar... I kept it in the guest room for the brief period I had it.  It's pretty gory-ish on the backglass, maybe too much so for a 2 or 3 year old.

I had an f14 and i can understand young kids not liking the noise ( sounds) of the machine.  The sound was tooo repetitive and boring....Not kid friendly and got no love towards the others in my room.

Simple.  Your wife hates your hobby and has taught them to do that.  Oldest trick in the book.

Simple solution, kids don't like the pins, get rid of the kids, I hear they can fetch a sweet price on the slave market.  Could buy a bunch of new pins with the money you get selling them into slavery

Well my kids are HUO and we got both of them NIB. My little guy used to make me switch off HSII all the time but he got over it. Just gotta make sure he doesn't mess up the coin doors when he slams a chair against the game he goes to to play. He will be 3 in Aug and his fav game is TZ. His fav movie is pinball 101 and he watches it almost every day. The best child player I have seen is monkeybugs 8 yr old. He shamed me on IJ WMS! Sean, your kids will get used to them.

Ten SS games...but 8 is my limit!

One of my first games was a Gorgar that played fine but there was no sound.  One day I was messing around again with it in the basement after have a non pin but electronics hobbiest check out the sound card for me. I put the game into the sound test and started working on other things. Then I heard very, very faint sounds of a Williams game.  Could it be that the sound was good, just a problem with the speakes or volume?

Quickly I got to work and started checking inside the cabinet.  My son, still in diapers or slightly older was wandering around at the time checking out what I was up to.

Lacking both sophisticated diagnotics gear and common sense I came up with a simple test - I just shorted across the volume pot so there was no resistance.

The sound of "Gorgar speaks" at full volume almost blasted the little guy through the wall like Marty McFly in back to the future.  He is 17 now and still not really a fan of pins.

Can't say for sure this is why but...

My kids have no issues.  Maybe explain to them how it works...might take the fear/mystery out of it.

Or, you could just turn the volume down from 30... to 11

Both my kids had no problem with Gorgar however my wife did.  Not sure if she would fetch as much as two young children on the slave market though.  She is not HUO but not routed either.
