can a Williams AE-23-800 (yellow) coil be used to replace a Date East "black Beast" 090-5001-00-23-800?
they are the same size, but I do not know if they are interchangeable.

If the coils are physically the same size, same number of turns of the same wire gauge, AND with the diode equipped in the same orientation for both coils, then I would assume/ suppose that both of these coils are interchangeable...
Personally however, I prefer to put (and to see) proper and original coils in machines...

So what gauge and turn is a DE 090-5001-00-23-800? I see the 23-800 at the end of the number, but what does the 090-5001-00 at the beginning mean?

I just replaced a DE pop bumper coil with that very same williams coil,...or maybe it was the sling...was a few weeks/repairs ago so I guess I cant remember exactly...but anyways, same wiring, I think I had to reverse the diode when I replaced it...just double check that. Coil is fine, worked for me.
