first off was not me who left them this way.

BIG THANX TO mindstorm88 FOR REPAIR!

the batteries were left to corode on the cpu of a wpc pin (could be any era that has batteries). so it all leaked out on to the board and the conector directly under it. the game worked for a while, didnt get much time to play with it then out of nowhere grnd problem and all kinds of switch matrix problems . it shorted something killing U20 so it was toast. but thanks to expert care and service from mindstorm88 my game lives again. I amsure he can confirm it wasnt a pretty sight. here is a shot of the front sorry no pic of the back. it was green or more green than the front was, it just seeped through.

Golden rule: Never use Duracell ProCell batteries...

My advice? Invest in Energizer Lithium batteries... last 7 years, and they will never leak.

Retiring soon...

This is also true with vids, especially the MCR boards (like in Tron for example).

Battery leakage is the cause of many vid/pin problems. You'll spend hours looking over a machine, trying to find the problem. Only to later find that the damn batteries have leaked all over the board (usually the acid leaks behind the battery/battery holder making it hard to see).

Thats why it is a good idea to change the batteries every at least once a year (or longer if you buy high quality batteries) to make sure it doesn't happen. And like Sparky said, don't use cheap "dollar store" batteries. Spend $5-10 on new, good quality batteries, or spend hours (or a lot of $$$) fixing a board with battery acid damage. Pretty simple decision I think
