Just hope its better than Batman TDK, Gomez's last effort.

To be fair... there were some prototype sketches shown of TDK and some of the stuff that didn't make it, could have been cool.

I think a lot of the problems with TDK were beyond Gomez's control. A lot of the toys were watered down due to costs, and everyone knows the biggest problem, unfinished software, was beyond his control. ButI think his inclusion of LOTR's PoTD was a major rooster-up, I hate that thing.

TDK's issues are all in the software, the layout is decent, the toys are ok and it plays fine, it's short fall is the software.

BBH isn't bad. I enjoyed playing it at Starburst. I think it's a decent route game. Has several MB modes and you can stack them. Overall it seemed to be a fun pin and I'd drop a buck or two if I saw one on location. Would I own one? Never, but doesn't mean it isn't a decent game for a location.

I agree BBH wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be ... it ain't SM but not a dog at all (IMO)

"It's only a flesh wound!"

They'd need Steve Ritchie for that mode.

I don't think a Harry Potter pin would be that bad. There's LOTS of material to work with and the theme could revolve around an evolving/growing sorceror with a true Wizard mode. It is a globally appreciated theme too.

Avatar could be really neat as well. Blacklight mode with a 'power ball' could be cool.

I guess ... the Potter license itself doesn't interest me but a magic/sorcery  type thing could would ... on the other hand I think Avatar and TRON would both be good titles ... but in the end I guess it's the software that will rule the day.

Sure, but the HP license might appeal to a younger audience which could encourage new players.

HP = some adult following but mostly teenage following.

This being said, let me tell you a story about the time I was loading a pinball machine in a car and a few teenagers asked me what it was. One of them commented saying it looked like a weird coffin. I told them it was a pinball machine.

Their answer:

"what the heck is a pinball machine?"

Now... do you think a HP pinball would work in a bar?

Exactly, that's the whole point. The theme would get people to play pinball for the first time, and maybe, get them hooked. Don't we want more people playing pinball?

I don't think bars are where most of the pin sales are going. But I could be wrong, thinking that most are being sold to collectors and home owners with game rooms ... and possibly even having children ... who like to read HP!

I think HP would work in a bar. Maybe not a redneck bar. Maybe a bar that has people that read the first book that came out 13 years ago and liked it and are now of age to drink. A fun game is a fun game. The stories are pretty dark. I see it being designed more like LOTR than a CV.

Would IM perform better than HP in a bar? Maybe. But I think it depends on the bar. Would BBH do as well as HP in one of those kid party zones that are popping up everywhere? I dunno, probably not, but I'm not an OP and I haven't been to a bar in years. If I was going to bars regularly, I probably wouldn't be looking for a pinball machine.

A Tron machine would be cool and might be a purchase, but HP I wouldn't even think about getting.  Avatar I might have to see the game play. Some people were saying it's a rebadged Sopranos.  Too many rumors to speculate  .

Man! I just saw Avatar for the first time last night....I figured out exactly what was going to happen within the first 10min of the movie. What a waste if 164min of my life. I got so bored I started making up stupid songs
(la la la....I'm a big blue guy, flyin' on my dragon...I fly so high, everything is so colorful....la la la)

The movie was worth seeing in Imax 3D. I will agree it was as predictable as hell, but it was a feast for the eyes. The imagination that went into creating the alien world was incredible.

Personally....

I think it is too late for an Avatar pin.  If it was here already, then that would be cool. but a fall release has too long a lead.

Harry Potter would (for me) be a bit of a crap shoot.  But considering th amount of material in the series, there is a lot of potential.  I would think the license might be cheaper as HP is less crazy popular than in the past.  Though with a summer release date for the movie, again a fall release might be too far spaced.

Tron?  meh.   I am not a massive fan of the franchise.. it could be cool,  License wise, the movie is coming out in december, so a fall release would be more accurate time-line wise.

Another possibility that hasn't been brought up is Halo. Halo:Reach will be the big video game launch of the holidays. I don't need to tell you guys how immensely popular Halo is.

Love the Halo idea... but speaking from experience... MS will NEVER let go of the Halo license. It's a true cash cow. When we (a publisher/game manifacturer) go after a license, we always look for a "respected" license. A respected license always sell... but in rare occasions, BIG licenses that do soooooo well... will be protected by the owner. They don't want to attach the license to something that might hurt the franchise. Halo is one of them. MS wants you in front of the TV downloading from Marketplace and playing Halo online... They don't want you playing pinball, away from your console

Enough biz talk... Now where can I leave my deposit for my NIB Tron Pin ??

Enough biz talk... Now where can I leave my deposit for my NIB Tron Pin ??

Man, imagine the Artwork that they "could" do on a Tron pin...wow! Lots of neon and black...big glowing disk in the center....However, were talking Stern here. It would be BBH with the moving deer substituted with a "light-cycle" motorcycle.

Gary mentioned that he wanted to put less toys, and more re-run PF styles (ie. NBA)

Ya, it's time to stop getting hyped up about new Stern pins, even if they handle a theme you really like. The hit to miss ratio is starting to really slide.

I've haven't played Sopranos but isn't it a decent playing pin? Perhaps the theme really limited the appreciation it deserves and, as much as I hate to say it, a re-branding might be a good idea, not unlike Family Guy/Shrek.

The only one I've ever played was a beatup one at Union about a year maybe 1.5 years back ... it was all right I remember having to bash the crap out of the 'safe' in the middle.

Sopranos is ok.

It's not the worst game ever but not bad either.

Some stacking opportunities between the multiballs, some decent modes, one funny F**k mode that keeps saying F**k over and over again every time a switch is hit.

Wizard mode is pretty difficult to achieve.  The underboss mini wizard mode isn't as hard.

I don't mind playing it when one is around but it wouldn't ever end up in m collection.

Nick had one for a while.
