As for improving the performance of a Tube Amp,they don't regulate AC voltage, they Pass 42 to 78 cycles per second which can filter out some noise but other than that the only thing it will Add to your system is HEAT

Quoted from Allan
The Isolation Transformer, was made Mandatory after an unfortunate tragedy on Younge st in Toronto mid 70's.Those Old Chicago Coin Rifle games had an Impact Coil for the Rifle Base that ran directly off Line Voltage, all the Machines in this Arcade were wired for 240VAC.Mr Curry stepped in a Salty wet floor pulled the trigger and suffered a Fatal Electrical Shock;rather than Identify the Problem the  Goverment decided to put a Blanket fix on the Hazard, unfortunatly the next Generation of Machines with +5volt/5millaAmp inputs was just around the Corner

Just curious: Why would anyone rewire machines for operation at 240VAC in North America ?

Cheers,
- Sylvain.

well I didn't wire it but probably because of the lower line loss,it likely didn't Add to the Shock hazard as Ground is halfway between Hot1 and Hot2;the story was told to me by John Connell and Jim Buckingham who both did work for Curry Amusements
