I was just wandering your opinions. Which would you buy, the new IJ or a TZ. I have never played TZ but hear so much about how fun they are . Thanks for your thoughts.
You really should ask YOURSELF what you're looking for..
If your looking for something that'll hold it's resale value - TZ. However, keep in mind that TZ is a complex game and it does take a while to "get it". Not a machine for the casual player or non-pin person. If you're a good player and are looking for a challenge this may be for you
IJ - big toys (ark), most likely very easy to understand the basics (get the balls in the ark, etc), new pin smell Although probably not yet with the software, it'll most likely have a deeper ruleset than TZ (like LOTR and TSPP).
I had TZ for over a year and I'm the only person that played it. Everybody else played my other games because they just couldn't figure out what to do in TZ because of the complex and "unintuitive" ruleset. A lot of new Sterns have that "wow" look and have something easy to shoot for (ship in POTC, Ark in IJ, car in Nascar, etc), you don't have to read a book to figure out what to do.... However, because of the simplistic goals, overall gameplay sometimes sucks.

Nobody but me and my father-in-law plays my games, and he also likes a challenge (he's playing TZ a lot).
Would also depend on your finances, lots of TZ's availables right now for about 3700$ while the new Stern will be somethign like 4200$ + taxes and will QUICKLY lose value IF ITS NOT UP TO EXPECTATIONS.
But, as usual, i recommend playing them both before the purchase, nothing sucks more than paying 5k for a game to realize that you like the cheaper ones more... been there, done that in some situations.
Currently owning: - Solar Fire, Medusa, Flash Gordon, (Centaur), No Fear ------------------
IJ Technology is starting to catch up with the old williams machines- The new sterns have deeper software are easier to program for the designer and easier to update for the end user, and they have resolved the weak flipper issues with the new operating system and the 40v coils. Tim
Stern IJ is unknown. It could be another Soprano's or it could be another Simpsons.
I vote TZ (or wait)
Exactly what I was thinking. The playfield on IJ looks rather bland in terms of shots. It's way too early to make a judgement call. If you have to buy now, TZ.
