This is a pro LED thread, so Adam, avert your eyes!
Back and forth from Starburst, these LED's those LED's. I'll tell you what I learned. Get a couple dozen super bright 44's or 555's...depending on your machines GI configuration. Put those under the pf plastics that are mostly covered, in other words so you wont be blinded by those little buggers. lights up the pf in just the right way with cool white LEDs for the rest. You need some super brights in there or the pf will be too dark, just the right amount and its perfect.
Did it to my Stargate too. I put cool white 44's surrounding the head and warm white for the rays...looks killer. Couldnt be more impressed with it. That T2 looks so friggin cool now. Only thing left to do is the flashers...this is getting costly. I'm going to do the math and add up how much $$ in bulbs I've used on each machine so far. It'll be insane but the advantages are apparant. When I was plucking off the old backbox bulbs, man that board was HOT. No more. Nice and cool with the LEDs. ALSO, another bonus. On my T2, with cool white LEDs strobing away in the head...and that I dont mind for T2, makes it look even creepier...the lower light level makes it was less distracting on the pf glass and you notice the clarity of the playfield WAY more, not just a little, your eyes notice how much easier it is to focus on the pf.
So aside from the flashers, both my T2 and SG have no old bulbs in them anymore!
Cant wait till they get in some frosted white bulbs...come on frosty!
