Hi!
I recently got a non-working Star Trip cocktail pin by Game Plan.

It has an MPU-2 with weird modifications to it, and the wrong ROMs. I just ordered a set of ROMs and am about to pull the power supply for a cleaning and possibly replace the capacitor (followed by voltage test)

If anyone has any experience with GamePlan pins, let me know!

It's all fun 'n games until you run out of space.

Probably just weird due to the fact that the game originally had a MPU-1 and was converted to use a 'modified' MPU-2.
I used to have some links on that mod from when I had my SN. I'll try to find them and post back later.

Getting closer...

BTW John's Jukes (flippers .com) in BC are very knowledgeable on Game Plan repairs.

Well, according to this topic from the Game plan pinball site the MPU-2 > MPU-1 information can be found at the marvin repair site... Guess my eyes are getting old cause I can't find it. I see where they talk about the MPU-2 being backward compatible but no mention of jumpers
However, there is a big section on how to modify Game plan MPUs to accept different EPROMS. Could that be the 'weird' stuff your seeing?

Anyways, I'll keep looking for the jumper information but now I'm doubting myself and thinking that maybe I've mixed up the two topics in my ever failing memory.... I guess it wasn't such a good idea to clean out all of my old Game plan links from my favorites list.
Boy, there definitely aren't as many Game plan information sites now as there were 2 years ago.

Sorry to not be of much help.
Adam

Problem is these machines are not worth that much.
So 200 for a machine may not be worth it.
Would be better to have it fixed i find.

Hey Ray
Take a few pics of the board if you have time.
So we can see what it looks like and maybe we can tell you the correct direction to attack it.
Or if you just want a good job done fast enought can always send the board to mindstorm88.
I am sure Bruno would be happy to give you a quote.
