Yep, told my insurance broker that I had 11 pins at a value of around 30K and they said it would be fine to cover them under the contents portion of my insurance.

Usually, home insurance covers a certain amount for the goods in your house. Sometimes it equals the value of the house itself in goods.
Best practice is to take digital pics of everything. I keep a CD at work, and one at home with pics of everything. I update it when I make a purchase. So if my house burns down, I just give them the CD... no more problems.
This being said... can I take pics of someone's 100-pin DMD collection?
The only problem I'm having is how to prove what they are worth..
Most insurance policies are for "replacement" value. You need to check with your broker on what your policy states. Bascially they should handle it just like your car got written off. They see what similar models sell for and put a value on it. What the value is where the arguements start, especially when they are not available locally and would probably have to be shipped from the US. There are enough internet sources to aid in what the average value is, but they will offer a cash settlement and if you do not like it, get ready for litigation. Otherwise you have to get them appraised and put a separate rider on your policy, just like you do with an historic car. Then they are insuring a amount of money and not a replacement of the pins.
It has been scientifically proven that light is faster than sound. That is why some people seem brilliant........until they open their mouth!

I just spoke with my agent about all of this two weeks ago, and they had never had any request of this nature so they called and spoke to head office about it. (State Farm)
After speaking with head office they said that all my games would be covered under my house contents and in no way would they offer me a separate ryder just for my games. So we adjusted my contents to accomodate my collection's value, which brought up the discussion about how they determine value and I was told replacement cost, and the agent suggested I use the Stern NIB costs as a catch all. (seeing as the price guide is subjective, especially depending on location)
All in all, the increase to my coverage is costing me an extra $2.50 / mo.
