Ok, I will admit that this is the second Starburst Auction I have ever been to (the first being at the Pinball Tourney last year)..... But mainly to do other side deals....

I have to say, it was the most pathetic auction I have ever witnessed!!!!  Other then meeting a bunch of cool Maaca Guys... and doing some deals, the auction itself was a complete waste of time for anyone JUST going for the auction...

A couple broken pinball machine. a few outdated MegaTouches, some CD jukeboxes, and a bunck of broken redemtion machines....

The only thing worth looking at was the SouthPark Pin, Spring Break PIN, and the Austin Powers Pin, but they were not in great shape, and the starting bid on these were about $1050 each?????

Don't waste your time if anyone is interested in going....  perhaps this was an off day?

Opinions?????

Thanks.

PS: I was a pleasure meeting Poolman, GoryDeath, Highspeed, and Vengeance.....!!!!  See you agian.

I don't know how long Len is going to let us keep doing this? The action is truly in the parking lot anymore. He mentioned something about moving pins out of his lot once the auction began. Fortunately I believe the lot next door isn't his but what is turning up for pins at auction was very limited and seems to be the way things are going. Most pins that are half decent seem to make it to the back of the showroom to be "shopped" and sold for retail.

I wish for everyone's sake including Len's, there was more available, but the stuff just doesn't seem to be out there anymore in terms of the operators from what I can see.

I am trying to think of all the people I saw there... lots of MAACA/CGCC/TOPL people.  Not sure how many actually bought anything.

This is who I personally saw:

AlienAgent
AncientGames
B1bug(?)
CheffoJeffo
Cooke
CrazyCanuck
Davester
GoryDeath
GremlineDude
High Speed
HP5P
KadLad
Karmatose
KidFlash
Machine.Slave
Menace
McMean
Mr.Nice Guy
Necro Nemesis
Poolman
RayB
Tslam
Swede
Vengeance

People I heard that were there but I did not meet:
MikeBoss
SirType
Tglover
Vidiot

Probably missing a few others, but there was a big turnout for the parking lot swap.

If it wasn't for the swap, i don't think i'd go as much as i do.  I also don't think it would help them in any way if they tried to put an end to it.  Hell, we'd just park a couple lots over .

It seems that everyone went more for meeting members than buying auction items. If you want to make a swapmeet... just do one! All you need is a place to do it. Too bad GJD's museum isn't open yet.

On the note of getting together as a result of everyone meeting due to MAACA and the other websites.....

I'd just like to say to whomever started these chat/calssified websites (Sparky? I thank you, and I think we all thank you for creating a form that like hobbied persons can meet.

If anyone else needs to be congratulated, here's the oppertunity....   I just recently became a member of Maaca (about a year or so ago), so I don't know the background, but if you know someone who deserves a thank you... please mentionthem here.

PS: after meeting you all, it does seem a little more like a community to me, rather then a bunch of aliases that converse.

For the first time, I was there.

I kept my eyes open for Monkeybug, seeing as though he's one of only two folks from here that I've met.

I picked up a machine in a parking lot deal and bought some parts from the store. I perused the auction offerings, but the budget was shot after the parking lot.

The Dr Who was in the worst shape of the pinballs, but it had about 6-7 guys busily playing it. Could that have been the crew from here?

It will be one day..hopefully soon. After seeing yesterdays turnout in the parking lot, and all the help I have got off of this site,(swap meet) is something that will definitely be included in the plan. I am also contemplating putting aside an area for consignment purposes, at a low, low price. Long story short, it is something that deserves a fixed indoor location and it would be great to have it at the museum.  on another note, I couldnt help myself and grabbed a police 911, a crisis zone and a gundam. It was the lousiest auction I have ever been to.. I think the move to this new location and the way they are pulling games right out of the auction for retail sale at 10-50 times the auction price may be the death knell for Starburst auctions, or at least a reduction to once every three to 6 months.

i took all of them into the shop right away.  then did my job at the shop.  then ran out for a child birthday party with my little girl eve.
then today is when i had a chance to put things together.  hoping its a minor issue and fixed easy.

but i did also notice that someone gave me one odd leg.  know it wasn 't street fighter or royal rumble.  they were marked and wrapped.  all i did was pile all 20 legs together and didn't notice.  well had my helper really load them all and he didn't notice.

Definitely wasn't me, I gave you my old SoF legs (I bought NOS ones last year).  I figured you didn't want the Gottlieb ones it came with..

I would have bid on that Southpark if it wasn't at the very end of the auction, didn't feel like sticking around for the entire thing.

Anyone know if it sold?

it was a "pass" apparently.  It was at the last auction, too.. so chances are you'll see it again.
