And I believe they may have started at $300 each, when I was first trying to look at the Meteor.  I tried and tried to get this guy to shoot me some pics, and I just kept getting "Only my son knows how to use the camera" and when he had them listed at $600 for both, "Oh that's a mistake, only my son knows how to use the internet."

Sometimes people get offers or someone comes along and tells them they should be asking higher.

Personally I think people should set the price they are happy to receive and leave it at that (but they can move it up or down at their peril).  For every item and price there is a buyer, it's just a matter of time (whether that be weeks or decades).

I can tell you that despite the recession, the desire for gameroom items is on the rise and along with it the demand for pinballs from niave buyers (and therefore there will also be more niave sellers).

Unless I need fast cash, I set my prices based on how much time I've put into a machine rather than it's book value and wait.  That's how book values get set (by what the market can bare).

You're right, but most people doesn't how much work and time a project pin can be .  This seller look like an antique/bazzar store so he probably doesn't know the market value on this machines... if they are working, maybe with a lot of time, he can find somebody but they're not in good condition so even the most naive buyer won't be interested at 1100 for them...

well I said that but if I look back at my first pin I was the perfect naive...  nearly 300$ and a year later, I still have work to do on it

If McMean couldn't have other pictures, probably they're big projects.

Anyway he sould a least erase the cheaper older ads

A "not so niave" buyer could take advantage of that since advertised prices must be respected:

"As part of its goal to provide consumers with competitive prices and product choices, the Competition Act prohibits a number of marketing practices.

Consumers may complain to the federal government about any of these practices even when they have no intention of buying the product.

Double ticketing (charging the higher of two prices) occurs when a seller represents two or more prices on a product or service and the consumer is not charged the lowest price. "

A couple years back I had a really cool old Honda flat tracker motorcycle that I decided to get rid of.  I listed it for sale at $1200 which was a steal, and got no action.  After a couple months, I thought, screw it....and put it up at $2000 - which was really about what it was worth.  I had 3 calls the day the bike trader came out, and it was sold within 24 hours to the first person who showed up - at full asking price with no questions.

Go figure huh?  I think sometimes people feel there is more value in something if they have to pay more.  I don't know how to explain it.  Even with work, sometimes the people you extend a really good deal to, are the least grateful, whereas the ones that get charged full pop are your best customers.  Psychology majors speak up.
