I'm starting my first playfield swap for my Black Hole and I have question....

1-  What do you do with the ground braid wire... I bought new because I have the Idea to change it... but All the socket are welded to the wire... Since I don't planning to change the socket, is it easier to keep the original one and transfert it with all the playfield  harness... or better the unwelded it and change it....

2- Gottlieb pop bumper lamp socket... one of the wire goes to the lamp near the pop bumper, the other one is part of the harness. If I unwelded the one goes to the lamp close to the pop, do you know If I will able to unwelded the oter one direct at the pop bumper socket... Is there a easy way to do that...

I don't know if it's clear...

Salut Gino, laisse le ground braid souder sur les sockets et pour les pop bumper, commence a défaire les assembly et tu verras en-dessous ou a été faite la soudure pour les lumières des pop bumper, elles sont dans la gaine de plastique, tu la pousse et tu désoude.

Fait ca en dernier car tu va trouver ca tasser pour déssouder, démonte les targets assembly et le reste du stock, tu finiras par les pop bumpers !

Je viens de jeter un coup d'oeil au pop bumper et j'ai vue les soudures, good, je garde ca pour la fin....

Le dessus du plateau est démonté, je n,ai pas encore attaquer le dessous, je vais faire le bottom playfield pour commencer...

Je vais avoir mon playfield le 5 mars... est-ce qu'il y a des volontaires pour un swap party...

Hi folk

Made some progress today with my first playfield swap.

Upper and lower top playfield complete strip

I have attack the bottom playfield first because is less intimidating

target assembly clean and target change, flipper assembly remove and clean and starting to unscrew everything in the underside, pop bumper remove...

I think everything going to be smooth and easy

lower playfield completetly unscrewed,

Upper playfield: All flipper assembly cleaned, drop target assembly cleaned, pop bumper remove cleaned outside and inside (coils and bracket cleaned)

Starting to unscrew the upper playfield underside...

I need and advice...

everything is apart now an i wait for my playfield that it's been clearcoat... My question is:

Do you think is a good idea to repeint the grey under the playfield...

if yes what the best way to do thnat to take care of the insert. I supposed that a good paint roller in foam is the best...

Je vais faire le dessous de ma Fathom cette semaine avec cette méthode.
Je crois que ce qui va se raprocher le plus de l'original est d'utiliser un primer canadian qui tire sur le bleu et ensuite utiliser un clear semi-lustré varathane, le tout en spray.

Cleaning by hand, water, soap, and a little polishing by hand with something like flitz

Not finish yet, but I have done the under parts of the upper playfield... the scariest part for me. I have to do the top part, but it's a piece of cake and with a lot of new piece (post, plastic, bumper cap)  she will look awesome.

I find my first swap pretty fun and not difficult at all.
