Original text removed pending a requested phone call with the 'guy'.  He wants to talk like 'real men' so I'll see.  If threats are uttered in any way, shape, or form the conversation is OVER and the text comes RIGHT BACK UP. Got it Mr 'Guy'?

Yep..  I won't mention his MAACA handle.  I'm sure most know it already.

I've had two dealings with Pat ( aka Xxxxxxx) , both unpleasant ....

I'll bite my tongue and spare everyone the gory details,
...but suffices to say I won't deal with him again either ...

I didn't say he was a crook..  If you buy something from him you get it - most likely over-priced.

This is a public rant about a MAACA member so avert your eyes if this offends you.  I'm not the only guy to have issues with this person but the 'attack' he did on my DM sale just brought me over the edge.

Pat Lepage is a private.  He buys low, sells high, and when anyone else gets a deal on something he intervenes and offers more to the seller (as much as he thinks he can still make a profit on).  The real kicker was that he also tried to sabotage my Demolition Man sale AFTER I posted here that it was sold.  He casually walked in the retail place where I had it, talked to one of the salespersons, started asking about the machine, how much it sold for, etc.  He then proceeded to seem appalled, and told the clerk that I was royally screwing the buyer, that he's had those machines before and that a very nice Demoman would never EVER sell for anything more than 1300$ (I sold mine for 1700$ and that included spare NOS cars, eyeballs and a full plastic set).

He of course graciously offered to bring in some machines that are/were more reasonably priced, etc.  Of course the clerk panicked, knowing nothing about pins and thinking I screwed their customer.  Anyway thanks to another MAACA guy my sale was salvaged but this really confirmed that Pat isn't much better than a used car salesman.  He's a F#@*#@# liar and a sleezebag.  Since when does he sell WPC titles for 1300$????  I wouldn't be surprised to start seeing some crappy sys 4, 6, and 7 at that place at an asking price of about 1000-1200$..  That would be his 'more reasonably' priced pins...

There I said it.

Pat - Kiss my a** - Demo man is delivered and paid for..

I sure wouldn't deal with this guy.  BTW he is NOT a collector but just a re-seller which doesn't mean that's a bad thing but it's his attitude and way of doing things that make him a douche bag.

Censorship he we come!

Mike

I ain't censoring mess. I learned from the past...

I can't censor someone for having an opinion... heck, people can even write bad stuff about me, as long as it is done without being overtly offensive. You have an opinion on someone... you posted on it in a non-offensive or vulgar manner.

End of story.

Me personally? I have spoken to Pat a few times but never bought from him directly, so I can't really say anything.

Now let me get myself some Jiffy Pop...

I have tried... even when I was willing to pay over what I should have and what the game was worth he still would not come down to my stupidly high offer. Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained.

Anyone got a cyclone kicking around?

I just want to know where the guy is that offered $500 to the previous owner for the Scorpion that I bought to tinker with? He never materialized when I was selling it?

I think I missed something. I thought you meant you didn't like porn Mike from your post.

I don't know what happened to him but I am guessing he ended up in rehab with David Duchovny.

ok here we go! to first start i would just like to say HI and IM BACK ON TRACK! for all thoses happy customers! as for thoses others that are not happy...well  theres just 2 of them and i wont have to tell you there names! well i cant satisfy everybody that's for sure...there always special people out there that are never happy! ive sold lots of machines over years and never had a problem before maaca arrived!(weird NO)!!!! 95% OF MY CUSTOMER ARE FULLY SATISFIED! you could always check ebay and see there to everybody is happy! Now back to this stupid post from this morning( i wont say from who) ok this is the story! i was looking to buy a pool table for my new place and i was recommended to go see JEAN BILLARD here in gatineau(great service i was told and cheap) so i walk in there and the owner/salemans gave me good info and service on pool tables!then i seen  demoman in corner and i ask him ? HOW MUCH FOR THAT? he responded to me 1895$ + tx!!!!!! i then said like everybody in there right mind that no pinball machines, i said wow that too much money! he then asked ? what is it worth? i said max 1300$ youre lucky  1500$ , but i also explained to the guy that me and him and not the same , he is a buisness and can sell games high like that! like regent and starburst! they dont have the same clientele as us ....so the guy asks again ok how much would you sell this in youre pinball world? and then told him again at 1300$ its a good deal! he look offended by what i said! this was not my goal to offend anybody! but please i a demoman was for sale here on maaca at 1500$ it would not sell! i just sold one this week to a fellow maaca member with a n.o.s plastic set, car, books etc...AND I SOLD IT FOR 1200$, last week my buddy in montreal also a member here on maaca he bought one in great shape for 1000$ ....so was i wrong by saying that price to the owner! maybe ,but i did not see anything wrong by telling him the thruth! after the conversation about the pool table he ask me if i could bring him  some machines for that kind of money ? i told him yes and never been back there since....WHY well its not my score and i feel like: if i would do that i would step on someone else is score.. that is not mine so i never called him back!!!! but i could call him back...i have a bunch of machines here... i could put there on consingment and make good cash with them!!!!!! and i dont! why well a fellow member is doing that for jean billard and he was there first and this is not my customer but someone elses...so i stay away...so i did not hurt anybody sell by saying that ! i was just talking to the manager! as for steph well i never dealt with him before! just been to is place a couple of years back and never got to make deal with him, due to full prices on all is machines...and did i ever complained? NO.... life goes on.....as for me being a seller and not a collector that is true!!!!!!!!!! you guys are right....im a player that gets bored of them really quick like most of us....so i dont stick too nothing i could always get another one! ( that is my theory)... so i sell them quick! and always  a good price(its the only way to sell something).I have delt with lots of people on here and have had always kept everybody happy over the years execpt for that JOUST story coming up again...let me repeat ,myself on that! i had bought the thing first from the guy for 1000$ and some body(steph) called the guy and offered 1500$ ...so the game started from there...i finally paid after pick up 2600$ for the joust project..and put lots of time and money to get it going and nice...and solt it for 4000$ first time it then years i actually made more then 200$-300$on a game...wow so im a basterd for that? its youre call on that one....but i would like to make something clear to all the other members out that are reading this ...first of all if i sell high i dont sell! right! so why so many games whent thru my hands in the last years! you tell me !i must be doing something right...and if you want 1000$ for a game are you gonna post it for that amount? no then you will get offers of 750$ right? so please guys before you post people names and comments on here please make sure you have youre story straight before you write stupid mess... my names is all i have in this small world we call pinball! and im trying very hard too keep it CLEAN! but one comment f___k's it up very quick! i never sold a freddy for 2400$ or a dracula for 2600$ like some of you guys did before( i wont say names) and we never heard any bullshit about it on maaca ! why? well i dont no! im not stealing people money from them like steve anderson a.k.a whatever......! SO WHY ALL THE FUSS>>>IF YOU THINK MY PRICES ARE HIGH >>>WELL DONT BUY AND SHUT UP! IF YOU LIKE MY PRICES WELL YOURE MORE THEN WELCOME TO DROP BY AND TRY IT OR I WILL DUE MY BEST TO SEND YOU THE BEST PICTURES! AND IF YOURE ARE A UNHAPPY CUSTOMER BEFORE POSTING ANYWHERE ALWAYS LET THE OTHER NO BEFORE AND SEE WHAT WE COULD ABOUT IT! BETWEEN MEN!

as for steph well i never dealt with him before! just been to is place a couple of years back and never got to make deal with him, due to full prices on all is machines

I was selling a nice F-14 for $700. (only needed a new beacon motor)
I paid $800 for it, but needed it out fast, so was willing to take a small loss.

You offered me $500 (..for a nice, fully working f-14...),
.... and then proceeded to tell me you had a guy looking
for one who was willing to pay you $1000.

Quoted Text
execpt for that JOUST story coming up again...let me repeat ,myself on that! i had bought the thing first from the guy for 1000$ and some body(steph) called the guy and offered 1500$ ...so the game started from there...i finally paid after pick up 2600$

Umm, no, that's not quite how the story went...
[...here we go again...]

To be fair though, I think the seller played us both.
The story, as I know it,  is that the seller was originally asking $600 for it.
I called pretty early in the morning and asked if the game was still available.
He told me that yes is was, but someone told him it was worth $1000, not $600.

Looking back, this was probably BS on the sellers part.
The $1000 was the price he probably spoke to Pat about,
but all the seller told me was that he was looking for more than $600,
he never told me the game was sold.

So I offered him $1000.
He said "what if someone offers more ? ".
So I asked him how much he would want to Guarantee the game to me.
He said $1200.   I said OK.
So I told him point blank, I'm giving you $1200 and it's off the market.  He said OK.

I called back in the afternoon to get his exact address and to setup a meeting time for the next day.
( it was a 3hr drive ).  We agreed to meet at noon.
Everything appeared to be OK.

That night, around 7:00pm, he called me to say that someone offered him $1500
and wanted to know if I wanted to pay more.
At that point I told him to f--k himself and to get bent.
I pointed out how we had a deal and he completed re-neg'd on it
and the last thing I wanted to do was to play his BS game.

I even told him that if I found out who was buying the game,
I'd tell the buyer to drop their offer back to $600 because there was no way
I was going to deal with a guy who such a blatant liar no matter
what price he would be asking, and he deserved to get a piece of his own medicine
(... I didn't know the buyer was Pat at this point, I only found out the next day... )

So for the record, my one-time offer was $1200, and this was done with the understanding
that the game was still available.  I never agreed to pay one more cent,
and never got into a bidding war.

If the seller told Pat I offered $1500, that's just another one of his (the seller) lies.

As for why Pat ended-up paying $2600 for it, that's beyond me...

Like I said shortly after all this happened, and am repeating now,
the true bad guy in all this was the seller. Pat and I just got in the cross-fire.
I was bitter at the time, but have long since buried the hatchet.

So...,  now that I've shot that dead horse one more time,
let's try to move beyond that...

I'm sure Pat has had many great deals, and is well-respected by many.
I'm also sure he will continue to have alot of nice pins for sale and make many people happy.

I'm sorry I re-opened this cancerous issue,   (...although you can blame Adam for that...)
and I don't want people to pass judgment based on my views.

... now let's never speak of this again...

Steph

I just want to know where that mint DM with spare parts for $1300 is so I can pick it up.

Still makes me chuckle that Joust was passed over first and then got in a feeding frenzie. I have never witnessed such hullabaloo over such an incredibly boring game.

Guess I got lucky finding a HUO DM for $1200, and only 5 minutes from my house!

i finally paid after pick up 2600$ for the joust project..and put lots of time and money to get it going and nice...and solt it for 4000$ first time it then years i actually made more then 200$-300$on a game

First I want to say that i have never had any problems with Pat, pretty straight up and understanding guy.

This being said, I want to say what I know about the Joust deal...I watched the auction on Ebay until the last second and I know it went for 4500$ USD, I also know that it took Geof (the guy who repaired the Joust) 3 to 4 hours to repair it, so I don't think 3 to 4 hours would cost that much.
Geof repaired my Joust in about 3 hours and charged me 100$.
Lets be generous and say it cost Pat 200$ worth of parts.
Work time=      100$
parts=              200$
game cost=      2600$       for a total of 2800$. Game sold for 4500$ USD, so that's more than 2000$ CAD
                                      in profit.

That's the only part I know about. Who else knows about the other deals Pat are talking about on his post??? Maybe he says the truth for the rest....or.....maybe not?? Their's an expression in french that goes like this "a la gang on sait tout", I would appreciate if someone could please translate.

Sorry Pat, but I hate lies, I could'nt leave things like you described them, I just had to say the truth.
You can tell them about the Junk Yard I sold you if you are mad at me, no problem. As I explained to you...I'll explain to MAACA members too.
Claude.

I take back that statement on Joust. Although the game is boring as all hell the controversy and rediculous road trips associated with that pin make it quite fascinating.

Which is why, when the result of the hunt isn't as successful as you thought (or think you were lead to believe), sour grapes can ensue.  Each person's experience of a deal or sale is personal and social at the same time.  Where one person or group may apply a certain criteria that makes a transaction successful, another may apply different criteria that makes it not so successful.

The best advice is to "look before you leap," a lesson not easily learned in this addictive hobby.

True... that's why I keep my deals to myself, and I even back out of deals when I smell trouble. Friendships and good acquaintances are more important to me than a pin. It is normal when a bunch of guys in a community all aim for the same thing... someone will get pissed at someone else. By keeping my deals, garage finds and found treasures to myself, people are happy when they come over and play them.

And on the flipside of that, when I buy from another member, I do it of my own accord. If I don't like the price, I merely move along, therefore there is never any bad blood. But if it is overpriced and I still want it, I negotiate a bit, and when I buy it, if the deal sours, unless there is true evidence of a malicious seller, I only have myself to blame. I saw it... I negotiated... I made the conscious decision to buy it. Period.

It's a small pinball world... I rather be happy in it, so I don't start anything with anyone... well, except with Glen sometimes... f**ker eliminated me from the pinball championship. (Man, that was fun btw... probably the most exciting games I ever played... was close!)

It's a matter of taste Glen, I rather play Joust than TZ, it's by far my favorite game (on a 2 player basis of course). At first glance it is boring, but once you understand completely the game and use those different strategies against your opponent....it becomes really fun. But it's a really, extremely boring game to play alone though, that I give to you.

I made 2 trips for 2 different Jousts, one to California with my wife and my 2, 10 year old sons, and another with  a friend to Washington State. Both were rediculous and quite boring, riding in a car 24 hours a day for 6 days, eating at restaurants, using public showers at truck stops, not being able to sleep because of the kids, or just because you're not comfortable in the damn car, without counting that both trips were made without a GPS,  makes it everything except fascinating,  but the games were well worth the trip, my best game ever.

!  You're not going to have us believe you made that trip with wife and family in tow JUST to pick up a Joust, are you?  I couldn't get my spouse on a pin run if they were made of solid gold and I found one for $5.00....  Couldn't resist....

I still find it Insane that you don't have a cell phone for these trips.  GPS is a nice to have, I wouldn't dream of driving that kinda distance without a cell phone.

You're going to have to believe me, I sold my first TZ to Teamtonics and brang it to him on my trip, he'll confirm.
But not the whole family, only the younger ones, i would not have toughed the trip with 2 extra teenagers .

I now have a GPS, but not back then. My wife had a cell phone on my first trip and it cost her 700$ that month, more than what it cost for gas (550$) to go and come back, because of the few U.S. calls we made. Cell phone? NO THANKS.

Cell phones are such a rip-off in this country...So, I'm boycotting them until the prices of the plans drop significantly.
However, whenever delivering/picking up a pin (or anything really) they are pretty handy.

I don't know who you guys are dealing with, but I have a plan that costs me $30 a month with MY5 (5 numbers anywhere in Canada I can call anytime, for as long as I want for free), 500 daytime/1000 evening+weekend minutes, unlimited text and video/voice messaging.

I used to hate cell phones, and I still don't like talking on the phone, but for only $30 a month it's nice to be able to talk to my wife any time I want from anywhere, at no cost.

Sure, but after tax, system access fee, extras like voice mail, 911 fee, etc. etc. Does it still come out to $30 a month?

There are ways around getting hammered with outrageous cellphone costs when traveling outside of Canada.  Being the admin for all the mobile devices at my work, I've learned a lot of little things about keeping costs in-line.

If you know you'll be traveling outside of the country, just call your carrier up and have them add a "North American" type plan to your phone for the duration of the trip.  It will all be pro-rated based on the days you'll be gone, so the costs are VERY reasonable, not to mention you save BIG $$ on roaming charges and you'll net xxx amount of minutes of "free" talk time.  Even if you go over the included minutes for that plan, the additional minute costs are still more than reasonable.

Just as an example, when a bunch of us went to Expo last October I had my phone on the North American plan the whole time. (5 days)  I called home and work quite a bit, not to mention calls to the rest of the people I was attending Expo with, then pile on all of the email I would normally get day to day, and I think the whole thing cost me $50-60?  Ask Cooke what his cell bill was (he doesn't have email) for the same duration!

As much as I hate my blackberry at times, I would never travel without some sort of means of communication. (and there are ways to keep the costs reasonable)

Oh, and to keep things kinda on track... MMMMMoOOOOOOOOOOO!

Yes it does and I bet most people don't even have a flare or winter clothes in their car if it did.

Yes it does and I bet most people don't even have a flare or winter clothes in their car if it did.

What ever happened to being a little prepared so you don't need to constantly ask of the world to bail you out?

I've had winter clothes in my car for the past 20 years now, I've never had to use them, but they will stay there anyway, you never know.

It's not the world, it's CAA and I pay for it. Damn straight I'm calling them if I have a problem.

BTW, I actually wear winter clothes. What happened to people actually dressing for the weather.

I now have a GPS, but not back then. My wife had a cell phone on my first trip and it cost her 700$ that month, more than what it cost for gas (550$) to go and come back, because of the few U.S. calls we made. Cell phone? NO THANKS.

I don't know who the heck she was calling to rack up $700 but I know I bring my cell phone down to the US all the time and I've never racked up that kinda bill.

Ask Cooke what his cell bill was (he doesn't have email) for the same duration!

Over 5 days at Expo I used just over 100 minutes and it cost me around $90. Unless you had the worst cell phone plan in the world and talked non-stop for a week, it would be difficult to rack up a $700 bill. But whatever. I'm not here to argue with anyone.

By the way, this thread makes me want to stab myself in the face.

Go to the U.S. and call only a few times and you'll see that bill go up like a jet.

I use payphones from the States, but I dial 1-800-555-1111 to connect to Canada first, then I make a collect call.

Simple and...cheap!

You are too emotional Cory!    by the way, we made only about 20 calls on that trip, I'm sick and tired of explaining my experiences and having this kind of comment to try to discredit me on this site.

What do you know about my family cell bill Cory?!

I'm hoping when you say "Had", you either straightened her out or got rid of her. If my wife's spending habits caused us to even come close to missing a mortgage payment, I'd lose it.......she'd be locked in the closet or something.

She wouldn't even get the chance to screw us that bad, everything is in my name under my credit.

Is it so hard to imagine that my family would miss me and want to talk while I was away at Expo for 5 days playing copious amounts of pinball and hanging out with a *fantastic* group of friends? It was one of the best experiences in recent memory, from my perspective.
