Do any of you know where I could get a part for this tv,it was built in 1997,but only has a few years use,I had it checked out after it quit, and was told its the voltage regulator, but he didnt think parts were available, hate to scrap it over a small part like this ,worked great, nice picture, just thought I would ask,Ottawa area preferred..
Thanks.

Was that quote from an experienced, reputable projection-TV Repair shop?

You can search Google groups for Hitachi projection, in sci.electronics.repair.

In my very limited experience and knowledge with projection TVs, the parts
which often fail are:
- SMPS (switched-Mode Power Supply) - IC, cap, transistors
- convergence IC
- coolant leak of one or more gun(s) onto electronics below.

I find it unlikely that a simple 'regulator' would be already unavailable.

Good luck !
- Sylvain.

Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron,
1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others.
Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for
one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!

The guy did it for a living for years, but has given it up with the new throw away attitude for electronics he said it was hard to make a living. He said it was the regulator shorted open,tv would shut off, then when you restart it it will just kick off again. He said it was a self protect thing due to improper voltage.Thats all I know.Local shops say they cannot get parts, just thought maybe somewhere in the city, worth a shot.
Thanks.

I've had a 50" Hitachi projection sitting in my garage for the last 3+ years with the same problem... It goes into protect mode and shuts the HV section off, but the audio still works.  I just can't be bothered to get it fixed. (damn  thow-away attitude)  If anyone wants it, PM me and come and get it.

Does that mean you have to move the Zoo Keeper to get at it?
