While waiting for my new eproms and leon's test rom, I thought I would check the display in my BG fix that I bought.  I hooked this up to my f14, and only the first 7 segment alpha display worked, nothing from the others.  It was bright and clear though.  I read up on the common issues, which for the most part are power board upgrades, but obviously this isn't the issue, as it is in my f14, which has a perfectly working display.

I spoke to the previous owner (2 times removed) and he noted that the right side just all of a sudden didn't work one day.  As per this, and being able to cross off power supply issues, I can cross off many issues mentioned on pinrepair, however I was wondering if anyone has experience in fixing these, and could point me in the likely direction.

If I can't repair it, I'll likely put a new pinscore in my f14, and move this display to the BG, but obviously due to cost, I don't want to have to go that route, not to mention I would like to give fixing this a go just for the "hay hay" of it.

Aaron

I should note that there are no hacks, and all the headers, as well as each solder joint for each display, ddo not display any cracks whatsoever.

Could be gassed out displays or components on the master display board. Board issues often boil down to faulty UDN6118s or UDN7180s if supply voltages are bang on. If it's gassed out glass your best to toss the whole sucker out and go with an LED replacement, otherwise you end up putting band-aids on the situation and end up with several levels of intensity between old and new displays which can look like a smelly pile of poo. Price of new glass now essentially has you throwing in the towel at anything beyond one out and going for LED just from an economic perspective. Unless your a true originality die hard for plasma displays I would probably just convert and save yourself the headaches.

They're not headaches, fixing is fun (for now ...).  I have one bad 6118 at u14, that I have figured out.  I'll try playing around with this, and will attempt to replace this and some 4050/4001 after testing.  I should check th HV is getting to each display correctly as well.  If it comes down to anything more, I'll put my f14 display in this, and get a new LED display for the f14.
