I'm working on a METEOR and I will replace connector on transformer J1 J3 (broken wires... pins damaged...) . What  I found suspect is most pins used for G.I (bus and ground), most of them look burned (connector)... do you have some advice before I power it again tomorrow?

- Sylvain.

I recommend the use of Dow Corning #4 Electrical grease on ALL high current connectors used in pinball (and other applications). This stuff reduces contact resistance (and friction) and will result in a noticeably cooler connector AFTER you have repaired/replaced the burnt or overheated pins. I also recommend a proper crimper, or solder the pins after crimping as most amateurs do not get a good compression on the wires with the average crimping tool.

A superior crimper can be found for about $35US - used by the Ultralight folks -
http://www.bandc.biz/cgi-bin/ez-catalog/cat_display.cgi?9X358218#BCT- and look at the B-Crimp tools
How to use it: http://www.aeroelectric.com/articles/matenlok/matenlok.html

I use this device in our shop and it makes really professional looking crimps - quickly and easily.

Hey John, from an ex-Vancouverite - welcome to MAACA!

You might have known my Uncle, Jim Weatherhead of Weatherhead distributors in the mid to late 70's - 80's.  He's AWOL to the family now, but I know the coin-op community was a "small world".
