It looks like there is a ball lock under the link. It seems like it might grab the ball from both sides to hold it into place with metal posts. I hope to check with one in September at Starburst in Montreal.

Seems like they kind of missed the highlight of the movie which was all the unearthly iridescent colour. Doesn't seem like they went out on a limb at all. These days they really should be switching to a digital screen playing cut scenes instead of sticking with DMD animations....IMHO. But then again, that could be another "Pinball 2000" fiasco.

Agree, but I think they'd need some young coding talent to pull that off. Not that it's complicated, just not probably a skillset the current coders have. Although, I like to see "art" in a pinball, and an LCD would probably lead to mini-youtube segments. I guess the current DMD animations are just electronic samplings of the movies anyways with little to no artistic input.

Exactly, they're just showing clips anyways, they may as well show them in a quality that's better than a cell phone.
While us old timers may prefer the touch of hand drawn art, it doesn't sell anymore and is more costly. Just look at slot machines. They all play full motion video and are selling like hot cakes.

I think the animations on new stern pins are terrible, and I agree with the idea of them putting a real display if they want realistic cut scenes, however, I love dmd's. Pay someone to do good dmd animations, or pay for an LCD or something! Stern Is always cutting features out of there games to "cut costs" but when you sell a new machine with multiple "SPINNERS" you shouldn't charge as much as a machine with multiple toys or anything else out of the past 30 years. And for god's sake put high power solenoids in the slingshots!!!!!!!!
I realize that stern needs to do certain things to stay in business, but real artwork instead of copy and paste Photoshop couldn't be that much more expensive. And yes, before anyone puts a bounty on my head, I should be thankful that there is new machines being built, and I am. But there is soooooo much more you can do with modern pinball than recycled ramps, and magnet features from the last few games in a row.
