Although I agree that selling a game
for a bit less that you want
is better than not selling it at all,
I guess my point is that a
firm price should be set "
before"
the buyer drives down to pick-up a game.
(...of course, this assumes you've described the game fairly and accurately ).
If I'm going to drive any long distance for a game,
I agree to a price beforehand, and trust the seller
to have described the game fairly.
If the description is way off,
or there are some obvious flaws that the seller
purposely tried to hide, then all bets are off,
and I would be in my right to counter-offer a lower
price given the newly discovered/undisclosed flaws.
However, if the game is as descibed and I've agreed to a price,
then I would think that it would be in very poor taste
to try and haggle a new (better) price once I meet the buyer.
As a seller, I would be quite irate if someone tried that on me,
...and even if I had been willing to sell for less,
I likely wouldn't, just out of contempt for the buyer.
... but that's just me...
