Well personally I like the IJ allot more then STTNG
But the price range can be a big different for STTNG by about 1000$ bucks if memory serves me maybe even lower than that.

Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.

I can't say which is better as I have not played IJ enough to be sure.  Those two are heavily themed pins and I think a lot of the appeal comes down to which theme you would like more.  STTNG is for sure a drain hog and a real *itch of a challenge.  IJ has great movie tie ins and plays a bit faster IMHO.  The toys and gimicks are equally impressive with each pin as are the sound clips.

you would have to reverify with the new price guide but on past ebays I have observed for nicer examples.

STTNG are around 2400-2600
IJ are around 2500-2900

Both would be a nice addition to any collection.

buy both!

I own a tng, it's very challenging. IJ is also very funny, very nice gadget and ramps. IJ is on my wish list! Both TNG is a keeper.

Why not starting with a nice Jonny Mnemonic ???

Currently owning: Star Trek:The Next Generation

Previously owned: DE Star Wars, Johnny Mnemonic

To each his own...

I prefer STTNG from IJ...lots of fun, more challenging, lots of toys, no airballs and cheaper to boot!

My $0.02

Frosken...who's NOT a Trekkie!

P.S.: IJ tends to be 25%-35% more expensive than a STTNG in similar condition

IJ is fun as long as you can make the ramp shots. For an inexperienced player they will get tired of playing in the lower part of the playfield very quickly.
Yes STTNG is a drain monster but that can be rectified with the modified outlane dividers which make the game much more enjoyable. Both wide bodied games.
Best to find a place to play both and decided for yourself as everyone likes different things and will have different opinions.  Thats why they make more than just one title.

IJ, no question, but there is nothing wrong with buying both. STTNG should be about $1000 cheaper so that may be a factor in your decision. Is IJ $1000 more fun to you?

ST:TNG is an extremely fast pin, Great shots and modes, but you need to like the Theme.

IJ is also a great Pin, and again, you need to like the Theme. The only slow part to IJ is after you bounce around the Pop Bumpers, the ball just sort of rolls out to the left orbit, sometimes this is very slow and really seems like they missed something there.

The Mode Start is a Huge issue with this game and really needs to be addressed, The ball bounces out so much that many people have tried to make assorted fixes for that.

On the other hand, I haven't seen a ST:TNG that didn't have or need the Mission Start scoop welded. I know the 2 I really looked at were both broken.

Buy both or choose your theme! You really can't go wrong with the game play of either. But If you don't like Trek, you will lose a lot of the feeling for this pin. IJ, not so much, but there are references to the Second Movie and it is, well, Terrible!! hehehe
