As seen here: http://www.montrealgazette.com/Tornado+rips+through+Lazare/3293791/story.htmlActually, the tornado hit at 1:30pm. Why do I know this? Because with my luck, I drove through the damn thing!!!!! I was with my wife and kids coming back from some shopping. We noticed a crapload of lightning near our house. As I was on Ste-Angélique (the blvd that crosses my street), I noticed what looked like a wall of rain ahead. When we hit it, it was a torrential downpour. We passed 2 cyclists that were getting drenched. Funny but not funny... And then I saw it. I noticed the rain swirling in a circle right in the middle of the road. Not asbad as what you see in the movies, but I could tell it's shape. There were branches floating around, including one that was quite big, just turning in a circle. My wife looked at me, panicking. So... I floored it to get through it as fast as I could. I felt the van get bounced around and felt the left side tires lift a bit and then the van slammed down. I got quite nervous but, of course, the kids were laughing their asses off! And just to add a hilarious tidbit to it all... this happened at the corner of Ste-Angélique and Aberdeen, which is the corner of... you guessed it... a trailer park!!!! So the myth is true!!!! Tornadoes love trailer parks! The only one we ever got here hit a small one that only has about 20 mobile homes! In the end, quite a few broken trees and minor home damage in that area. Makes for a great weekend! |
