you know what i hate?......... when your watching a auction and there isn't a buy now. email the seller and ask questions and such. they seem nice and such. auction had over 24hrs left. so i was going to go to the bank today and put in some funds to bid and win this auction: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAP.....19&rd=1&rd=1 well this morning i check all out and its all sold. for only alittle more then the opening bid. some other member talked him into doing a buy now for this low price and told him no one else was going to bid on it. good for them. but that sucks. was going to drive up there by myself and then go to north bay to visit family. even made arrangments with the seller on when i would come up and such. i missed out on 16 jukeboxes for less then $600. waaah!
Hey, that's ebay for ya ! you take a chance on waiting for your auction to finish ( the nail bitting thing to do ) or you take a chance and accept the offer of someone
I feel your pain

I agree that it really sucks to get screwed on an auction you wanted, but if you look at it from a philosophical way Gory.., ... did you really need the hassles of picking-up, storing and fixing 16 Jukes right before your wife has the baby ?
I know, I know, I sound like a beaten man, but I too once jumped at any good deal (whether I needed it or not ), and now find myself with 3 Robotrons and 20 broken monitors in the garage !
Still... I yearn for a good deal, and it kills me to pass one up, but my home life is probably alot happier because of it...

yeah, unfortunately eBay is one of those snooze you loose situations. You can end an auction early if you sell an item locally, and many people take offers via email (even though it's against eBay rules) and end the auction early (although the Buy It Now trick is more "legit"). You could complain but it won't get you the items you lost. The best thing is to play the game, if there's something you wnat, send an email, tell the person what you really want to spend and see what they say (they may take the offer or they may keep the auction going), you never know. But you can't cry over spilt milk, or lost eBay auctions, you win some you lose some. If you fret the losses then you'll go grey early or develop an ulcer.
EBAY is not heaven. There are indeed a lot of not so easy transactions and frustration that comes from trying to get a good deal (being cheap and bidding low) or bidding high when you have lots of cash but there is always a richer bidder out there....
Right now, what totally ticked me off is that EBAY just raised the seller fees again (effective, Jan. 30). I cannot believe how much cash I have to give to them now if I sell a $50 item (between EBAY listing, final value and Paypal fees)....

EBAY AND GREED seem to be the same word these days. If you are a seller and your item is less than $50, when you add Ebay fees and Paypal Fees, you lose almost 10%. I understand listing fees, but why keep increasing them? You are only discouraging people from using the service.
My only reccomendation is that is you really want something be aggressive. Everyone waits till the last moment to bid these days, so why not try to convince the seller to end his auction early? If he will not do it for you, he probably will not do it for anyone else.
It has been scientifically proven that light is faster than sound. That is why some people seem brilliant........until they open their mouth!
Crap! I was watching that one as well. There was some money to be made on that. Seller was really stupid. It would definately have gone up in the last few minutes.
This has happened to me a few times. Contact seller (I didn't in this case), show interest, don't discuss buying it outright, but clearly indicate I will bid on it. But someone else convinces a buy it now price and it is gone. Shame it happens, but that's life.
I really expected the price to go up quite a bit at the end. Really surprised the seller was that desperate.
EBAY AND GREED seem to be the same word these days.
In this case, it wasn't greed. The guy was desperate to get rid of the jukes; otherwise he would have let it run it's course. Don't know why he did a buy it now when he already had one bidder (if I recall correctly?). Such is life.
yep. i contacted the seller as well and told him i was going to put a chunk in the bank. but erin went to the hospital today for more stress test and she is having our baby on saturday now. so i would have been too busy to bid tonight. but i could have easily picked them up. family out that way and seller told me that i could wait till middle of feb to pick up. pay beforehand wasn't a problem. too bad for them. mr.hide might help me get another.
