Hey Gang, Gonna do a shop job on my WCS94...the ramps are dirty as heck! Any suggestions on the best product to use on them. I'm guessing I can never get them clear and new looking, but I'd love it if I could Anyways I've used Novus 2 on other ramps before, and wasn't very impressed...any other suggestions? Thanks |

Maybe Novus3 then Novus2....I haven't used 3 much yet, but it is a bit more "aggressive" than 2. |

Bleche-White FTW!! http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST.....Tire%252BCleaner.jspThis is the Canadian version Bleche-white can only be found in the US. Works amazing, it won't remove the ball trail in the ramp but every speck of dirt will be gone. I use it on everything, ramps, plastics, posts, under PF assemblies, I clean everything with it. Except the PF I'd be worried it would eat away at the finish. Only thing is that it has some really powerful fumes as it's only meant to be used outside. I ended up buying this respirator: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST.....BFilter%252BMask.jspSo I could work with the stuff inside and not have to inhale a ton of fumes at the same time. |

I put them in the dishwasher first and then follow up with Novus 2 for really difficult stuff. The dishwasher approach works fantastic and the ramps come out really clean. I use twist ties to secure any loose wires to the ramps -- look for existing holes and secure to them. I turn the hot cycle OFF -- important. Even w/ the hot cycle off, I make sure to empty the dish washer the minute it is done.
Cheers, Duane

Ok, I'm gonna let this very well kept secret out of the bag... While Adam's suggestion is very good, I've found that nothing beats Scrubbing Bubbles to clean ramps, period. It's not as harsh as BW so you can use it inside without any special handling or venting, and so far every pin I've used it on it has worked wonders. See for yourself here; http://archive.maaca.org/s107351202.onlinehome.us/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?m-1251775753/s-0/#num0I've also used Scrubbing Bubbles on really really stubborn plastics with great results, but do that at your own risk as there could be potential to remove artwork. Oh, and as a followup you can flame polish the ramps once they are 100% clean to make them look as good as they possibly can. If you've got any questions, let me know. Doug |

Did you "flame" those TOTAN ramps as well, or is that just the result of "Scrubbing Bubbles"? |

I did flame them, but the SB did 90% of the work you see. To be honest most people probably would have been ok with the ramps once I was finished cleaning them, but I figured when in rome... (they were already out of the game so why not?) D |

Let us know how it goes! (which means pre & post pics!) D (I've also used the dishwasher method, and I still think SB does a better job) |

I've never had a problem with Bleche-white removing artwork. but not having to wear a respirator would be a plus |

There used to be two types of Scrubbing Bubbles, one is orange / lactic acid based, the other bleach based. I think they discontinued the bleach version. I use all of the solutions mentioned and some more, but I have had good results with Scrubbing Bubbles with ORange Action on plastics. It will eventually eat at plastics paint however.
here are its active inggredients:
Dipropylene Glycol Butyl Ether Dipropylene Glycol Propyl Ether Ethoxylated Alcohol Lactic Acid
Here's Bleche-White:
Isopropanol 2-Butoxyethanol Sodium metasilicate Sodium silicates Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate |
