Wait until you bring it home. There is something quite special about owning an MM. Let's put it this way you can get down the road in a three wheeled Isetta but it's a whole lot nicer driving a Bentley.
If your seriously into WPC pinball and can afford it I would say do it.
Buy an MM. It's the best game ever made, in my opinion. I've tried not to like it; because of the price But I couldn't....its too much fun! You wont regret the purchase...especially if you buy it in the USA soon $$$$$$$
I'm a WPC fan and I have definitely asked myself whether MM is worth the 8k. And it's gonna be 8k after shipping, taxes, etc. I've only played a few games on one so I have asked those who have it about how they like it. I look at it as either MM or a couple of other A titles. I think I will seek out a MM eventually. So I say go for it!
Is it an atom? No, it's multiball! Complete MAACA-Wacko!

If you already have most all the other "A" list pins that you ever wanted then I say go for it.
If not, I'd probably have it as one of the crowning pieces in a collection, as forking out 8K for a pin would only be an option if: 1) the cash was NO problem, and 2) there is nothing else left out there that I want that costs less.
It's a good pin for sure but not so far superior to several others that cost less in my opinion. I have a list of at least 8 or 10 pins I'd buy before MM.
The way I look at the price is I compare it to my buddies that have gone out and bought expensive cars, rolled them off the lot and lost more than an MM going over the curb. I don't do that but I buy pinballs.
Most of the those cars that made them happy are worth pennies on the dollar and either are in the bone yard, close to it or sold for much less than they paid.
And there stands MM. Makes me happy, worth what I have in it. Even if someday it wasn't I use the car analogy and realize my depreciation for my toy was on pinball, when for my buds they were guaranteed the depreciation their cars.
You only go around once. Buy the damn game while there are still some available.
Worst thing to do is ask others what they like and don't like.........as you just read. If you asked the question, you answered it..............don't buy.
If you're trying to justify spending 8k on MM with any logic, then you probably shouldn't buy it. There's much better ways to spend 8k than on a pinball machine. However, if money spending 8k isn't an issue, then MM is a reasonable choice. Hype or not, it's been around for 15 years. It's a proven commodity in pinball as far as pins go. If it's not your cup of tea, sell it. Someone will buy it.
It's a great game and yes it might be worth that much.. However!! It's hard to sell a machine at that price. I learned the hard way with MB.. Lost money in the end. If you tried to sell that here locally you'd get lots of trade offers but rarely that much cash.
Something to consider..

True, market is a whole lot smaller with MM's, MB's, CC's, etc if you insist on a local sale. But unless you were dying for cash, trades aren't a bad thing either. Chances are, most of us has something on their want list.

I would disagree. I have found selling A title games to be no problem. I sold both my CV and AFM for my asking price and had to turn away buyers. I think a MM would sell relatively easily if priced fairly and in nice shape. BTW, I never even had to list them for sale. Just emailed those who had expressed an interest.
Condition is king. Make sure the game is in nice shape and you can sell it easily down the road. Don't skimp and buy something that isn't in decent shape. That will get you in the end when you try to sell.
