I was wondering if anyone out there owns a Bally RADICAL! pinball, and could help me out?

I recently purchased a RADICAL! from eBay and when it arrived it was less than perfect, here is what the seller had to say on eBay:

"Up for auction is a very nice 1990 Radical Pinball Machine. This game has been gone thru and is in great working order. We have stripped the playfield and cleaned and wax all. The rubbers have been replaced and the burned lights replaced. The playfield is in great shape and the cabinet and back box are in great shape."

The description was less than accurate, there were several burned out lights, the left side LED was broke, the ramps and plastic parts were all loose or not fastened down (many missing screws). The rubber parts were worn and dirty, pinballs were missing, and the playfield, dont get me started on that, it was very dirty and needs touch up.

Needless to say, I started to shop it when I soon realized that there were also some parts missing from the machine. I was able to find most of them (rubber kit, spinner switch, hex spacer, etc.) online, however there is one piece that I cannot locate, and I think it makes a difference in game play.

The piece I need is the Skateboard Ball Diverter that is located at the top of the playfield. I have attached a picture that I found so you can see what I am referring to.

Does anyone know where I can find this part, or can someone maybe give me the dimensions of thier ball diverter so I can have one fabricated? I think just an outline trace with a close up photo and how thick the piece is would do. I also need to know what screws are used to fasten the 'X' ramp to the metal base of the ball diverter.

Any help on this would be Totally RAD!

1- Welcome to the board...

2- Sorry to hear about your less than satisfying purchase.

I was actually looking at that auction after Medvet (Mary Ellen)
posted about her Radical.  (...but then I got side-tracked by a Joust !  .

As for the part you need, I'm sure Mary Ellen can help you with that...
... heck, knowing her, she can probably MAKE the piece you need !

Good luck.

Cheers,
Steph

Thanks tinyrodent & Steph for the information about medvet. I will try to send a PM to 'medvet' to see if she can help with the missing part.

Hi PinballPaul

Welcome to MAACA!

I do have a Radical and it's actually out for playing right now so pictures are not a problem. I just have a bunch of guests for a late Xmas and pinball party tonight so will check my PM's later tonight and get back to you ASAP.

Excellent choice for a game- it is a blast and very unique.

Talk to you soon

Peace had returned to the house once again - kids played the toy crane all night but at least the adults played pinball .

Took some high res pics of the area and measurements of the piece. Didn't see the part about the screws in the ramp so will pop it off again and measure them for you. LMK thru PM if you want me to make one from PETG that I have and then you have time to look for the real one.

Wow, you went way beyond what I was expecting, that was very gracious of you, thank you very much! I will send you a follow up email as well. I am talking to the guy I purchased the machine from, I am hoping that he can find the part in his shop. It looks like they started to shop this machine, then got side tracked because everything was loose and not fastened down when I got it.

Thanks for the idea Steph!

Had a fun day in the workshop - still not 100% finished as I only had clear decal paper to print on but after Staples visit tomorrow for white background paper, PinballPaul will be up and running with his Radical.

Played a few games with it in my Radical and works like a charm. Scroll saws are the greatest tool

You are the best ME!!! I cannot express how much I appreciate your help, and going the extra mile. Many kudos and good pinball karma are yours for sure!

The pics you emailed to me looked great, cannot wait to see how Radical plays with this piece, I have only had the chance to play it with the piece missing.   ...until now

I was going to ask you, does your Radical have 2 or 3 kickers? Mine only has 2, but it looks like there are holes drilled for a 3rd one at the top near the Snake Run.

Have a happy and safe New Year everyone, glad I found this forum, everyone is great!

Thanks for the tip goodicksa, I have already seen that page. To clairify, some Radical pins only had 2 kickers, while other machines had a third kicker installed at the top of the playfield toward the snake run ramp. I believe that all Radical playfields were drilled for a 3rd kicker, hower not all of them have it. The machine I have only has 2 kickers, but there is a slot drilled for a third one at the top.
